I’d rather have things like birthdays on a need to know basis. Even if I’m in a guild, I wouldn’t share it.
I don’t want strangers to know my birthday, my name, age, what gender I am, they’re getting zilch.

It’s a violation of absolutely nothing if the guild simply prompts you to enter a birthday and you choose what to enter (or not to enter anything at all).
Nobody’s asking for an official and verifiable birthday registry of WoW players.
That would be absurd.
