Hamster wheel

I don’t know about some of you but this hamster has finally figured out that this little plastic wow wheel is going nowhere.
When blizz wants to at least install a treadmill in my cage with a tv screen I might want to come back. At least I’ll be fooled into thinking I’m getting somewhere.
Wow needs a change. We can only relive the glory days so long before we just need something new.
And I’m not talking about systems on top of systems.

Lol I had a hamster named Cheeseburger that would go super fast but get all lazy real quick and stop running all of a sudden, she just go flat and spin around as the disc kept going. I was always afraid she fly off there like that one day :joy:

And I agree op, I am having a lot of fun really doing the mythic dungeons but outside of that I am not enjoying myself in the game. If it wasn’t for the dungeons I’d don’t think I could keep myself subbed anymore. I’ve replayed the old stuff and made so many lowbie characters in the last 8 years I just am not sure I could keep myself doing it anymore in place of the new expansion end game. Waaay to many systems like you said and I feel the time gating too much.

Take care.

I don’t even understand this thread. You act like we’re somehow forced to play this game lol. I sub because I like the game, when I get bored I unsub.

If you’re not having fun then stop playing.

Funny thing is it’s been a hamster wheel since day one and people are just now figuring it out.

For the record not all people began playing at the same time. Your day one may have been last week or ten years ago

And in my situation I’m stuck into a six month sub because I thought we would get more content than we have. So I am stuck trying to find some enjoyment out of the game.
I’m just bored with the wow recipe as a whole.

And none of them have ever heard of MMOs or heard what they’re about.

Ok.

lol

Not sure why the “lol”
You don’t seem very easy to talk too

I know this is true for me but WoW has served as much only to go game for like 14 years. I’ve stuck around even when I wasn’t having the greatest time by trying to find other little things in the game to do instead. I always felt I’d rather question why they are taking this game the direction they are instead of just quitting it. I’m probably part of the problem really. Sigh

WoW was always a “hamster wheel” but the point here is that it’s more noticeable with the way the game is designed.

Used to be more of a maze with cheese at the end. Now there’s almost no cheese.

I’m lol’ing because of the excuse. You can’t tell me the vast, VAST majority of people who have heard of MMOs or WoW don’t realize it’s a treadmill/wheel. Always have been, always will be. Games like GW2 tried to break the mold. All they do is come out with new dress-up toys. Different treadmill.

To say people are coming to the game just now and are thinking they’re going to have some never-ending story is naive.

Congrats on discovering MMOs

Why does someone always come into a thread created for the purpose of constructive criticism to say this? Public forums exist to promote discussion, and there is nothing wrong…and everything right…with making a post to point out things that could be improved about the game.

STORY is what drives RPGs.
Systems only drive me insane and to other games.
The hamster will IS the systems in this game.

I understand that but it’s not just the game that’s changed it’s the players too.

People complain about content drought now but look at how fast players ripped through Classic and now TBC Classic. Also look at how fast the player population in Classic died out.

People act like the design of the game was so much better back then but it honestly really wasn’t. I’m not saying retail doesn’t have it’s problems though.

Yeah I agree with you except OP didn’t open a discussion about anything specific. He just complained vaguely about WoW being a hamster wheel. So yeah if you’re coming to the forums just to complain without anything constructive to discuss then it’s a pretty blatant sign that you should take a break.

It’s true that the game has always been a treadmill with a dangling carrot hanging in the front, I just think people are noticing because they did a better job of making that treadmill fun in the past, now it’s just… a treadmill. It’s glaringly obvious. And for some it’s borderline offensive. (I know, I know)

If someone has a complaint that basically boils down to hating the very essence of something then what is constructive about it?

I love orange juice but I’m so tired it’s made of oranges. If it were apples it would be so much better.

Run end game content, get loot, get patch, repeat. It’s literally the same as it’s been since its inception
