if you can only use it 5-7 times per minute and it costs 5 holy power, then it wouldnât need to be nerfed by much, if at all. It wasnât even OP in pvp, herald was still better.
The fact that it upkeeps shake the heavens is not a reason to nerf it to match FV⌠Hero talents is supposed to be a buff/ dps increase for every spec in the game⌠Hero trees are supposed to flat boost our dps not match our old rotations dpsâŚ

Hammer of light is affected by judgement, dawn, divine purpose, reckoning. Throwing a HoL on cd on a pack without judgement on them is a big difference. This is more evident in pvp combat whrere a lame HoL can deal 400k damsge compared to a giga HoL crit for 1.4M.
Allows for skill expression and proper set up. Unlike herald with radiant glory that just goes.

Because with Templar you get a HoL, with Herald you get a DP(and HoWs).
We are talking a comparison between herald gsmeplay thst literally doesnt change a thing in the rotation, the spec plays by itself with radisnt glory applying dots and beams every 30seconds compared to HoL which allows for more setup and planning.
Well youâre comparing the wrong things here.
Templar casts Wake and gets HoL. Templar also gets HoL when the stacks reach 60.
Herald casts Wake and gets DP. Herald also gets high powered HoWâs, 2 ppm.
When you cast stuff, you need to make sure you have Judgment, Dawn, etc, whether youâre casting HoL or DP, itâs the same setup youâre walking towards for both.
Then tune down the damage, drastically, i dont care about the dmg, it was genuinely engaging. I played ret or pally even for the first time since I got it on my earthen and I was like âboring? This is fun as hell, this should be nerfed im doing like 2mil hol critsâ And now I know why ret pallies notoriously have a boring rotation.

In a 1 minute window youâd cast FV at most twice depending on luck with DP. LD built so fast from being able to spam HoL you just always had it available.
The tooltip wording is correct. Yaâll were just trying to interpret it in a incorrect way.

Templar isnât bad in pvp. Stop with this nonsense.
With the bug, HoL and Empyrean Hammer accounted for nearly 50% of a Ret paladins damage. Blizzards own words was that Hero talents were supposed to make up about 20-25% of a specs damage. And so far they have been consistent with that. Hero specs that were below that threshold have been buffed and those above have been nerfed.
Templar were just bordering on being overpowered before the bug. With HoL and Empyrean Hammers making up almost exactly 25% of a Ret paladins damage.
The reason why Templar is underperforming in PvP is because most of its power comes from Shake the Heavens, not HoL. A short range-high maintenance effect. That kind of damage profile does not work in PvP.
If Templar sux in PvP, just give HoL and Empyrean Hammers a large damage modifier to make up for the lack of uptime Templar needs to function.

Worse can be subjective/opinion. You think less HoL casts is better. I disagree, Iâm allowed to not have the same opinion as you. If Ret was more powerful and a bit more durable for pvp, Id play it. Maybe ill play it after 11.5 launches. Time will tell.

I am having the same issue as a prot paladin. I used to be able to use Eye of Tyr and then spam the hammer almost 9 TIMES. Now I use it once and its is gone either for 1 minute or until I get a proc to use it. Kind of sad since it made it so I can efficiently solo tank large groups and dps it down. I lost over 200Kdps.
