The leveling revamp was a success. I don’t think anyone would disagree with me except the absolute fringes. The new leveling experience, Chromie Time, Exile’s Reach, it feels very much freshened up and dare I say fun compared to the complete disaster that leveling represented prior to the leveling rework / level squish.
Same,
Been playing some Rift and other FPS games off of steam. I’m definitely feeling a lot less “Have to get X done”. It’s actually nice! I like to keep track of the game through the forums, something to pass 15 minutes a day.
It is so easy to get distracted while teleworking. I’m doing it right now.
The .5 patch is at a release build so it should come out this month.
I don’t think the worry is now. The telling sign is how many players come back for the first patch. The first patch will be late spring/early summer. That will be a big tell where the expansion is heading IMO.
ion actually believes the base has become MORE hardcore and MORE patient.
Wonder what roads he’s driving on and what stores he’s shopping in, lmao…the world is far more ADHD and less patient than ever these days. My own family is evidence. The population is far more instant gratification now than it was 20 years ago thanks to the ‘give-it-to-me-yesterday-amazon’ mentality thats permeating society as a whole.
Bliz wants to keep up, theyd better get this game in fast pace mode sooner or later or eventually we’ll be attending WoW’s funeral at some point.
Personally Id like to stave that off for as long as possible
We all know they don’t care, look at the feed back, they did a complete 180.
I did level through it and yes it was better, however…
Leveling only became an absolutely chore/slog after 7.3.5 when they nerfed the living snot out of leveling speed. It became a mess and 100% not fun. They recently corrected that mistake with the squish but then breaking another activity that many people were looking forward to doing.
They could have just taken out the terrible scaling they put in back in 7.3.5 and we’d be fine.
Warcraft Logs I think put out some data that they have double the use of their metrics compared to the same point in the expansion in BFA. So it isn’t impossible to think that is possible.
if it does… thats interesting but i have money on start of next month.
idk man… worried about it.
WoW came onto the market and dominated it on one simple principle: they catered to casual players.
Well it helped a lot that EverQuest, the reigning champion at the time, was actively hostile toward all its players and treated them as subjects, not customers.
Without a doubt–but I’m also sure that the staff right now are reeling because they initially thought they hit gold with the subs in December-January and then February came in and I severyly doubt they’re gaining any new sales or subs to offset at this point.
Put another way Blizzard in the Q4 report had to knock it out of the park. They didn’t do that and now they’re behind CoD and Candy Crush.
Time to replace the helm because it seems that Blizzard is just making a rehashed version of legion. They’re not sure how to keep or add new players. So they’ll get 7 Million at peak then immediately fall down to 2-3 million within 3 months.
I’m thinking 9.0.5 by April, and 9.1 by at the earliest June (if they scramble to get something out). Although if they don’t want to flub it up, probably July.
Although that will be a hilarious cause content pace for a patch will be even slower than WoD. Like even then we got BRF during the 6.1 time (roughly same time as now).
Which is good for me, feel like ending my mental break and coming back to play during 9.0.5 to at least catch up the rest of the guild (a few have got ksm, aotc and rival).
Even that is a lot more than the apocryphal “whales” that were always referred to as “the people who buy the store mounts”.
People are paying millions of gold for heroic carries and mythic bosses, or they wouldn’t be advertised. People are buying keymaster at 350k per dungeon. Yes, those are whales.
You obviously need to characterize spending an extra thousand dollars a year on this game as “measley”. I disagree that sinking $10k into a videogame per year for gearing is a trivial sum.
If you watched its on account of solo content sucking and their being no line of progression for the majority of players. This has been the #1 argument on the forums of late. Solo and casual players make up the majority of players, they make up a majority of the profit for WOW.
It is beyond time for Blizzard and the hard liners who hate on the solo causal players to wake up and smell the coffee or else you won’t have a game to play.

CoD, and Candy Crush are monsters and always have been. BlizZard’s big monster has always been WoW. As long as classic and BC classic exist WoW will always be top dog for BlizZard for a long time.
But we are only 3 months into the xpac. Its not like 6 months.
idk man thats a bit troubling of a timeline. from what we got at blizzcon… its pretty bare bones of a patch atm… i guess we can see where it stands in ptr cycle but if we are just getting bones and no meat
shadowlands might be worse then wod…
A friend told me in bfa s4 he was quoted at 7 mil for playing off meta spec for 2s. 3ish mil for same type of boost if he played healer to 2400. He was going for azeroth’s champion title and needed that rank 4 essence.
Yep people will throw gold at anything especially if it is gold blessed by blizz
Definitely a good start. I hope they keep refining things.
Between the revamp and the party sync the possibilities are numerous. Its going to come down to just how dedicated they are to Making Azeroth Great Again.
Solo and casual, thats me right now. Literally doing everything but playing in current content.
No solo content and players ruined group content in BFA with their infantile antics.
