Half the Playerbase is gone?

MMO Market is stale as sin.

Every veteran MMO player has said this if they’re approaching it with a cold reality.

Minecraft and MOBAs have changed how we play games and MMOs are still using a formula the Brad McQuaid and John Smedley designed.

It is probably accurate. we are almost 4 months into the expansion with no patch 9.1 in sight. This is standard wow patch cycle.

So much this, did covid break the Internet? Did Covid steal all the work PC’s? Did Covid make all the coding people forget how to code? Did video conferencing start killing puppies?

I get Covid is a thing and is serious but for a software company, completely capable of working from home, this excuse is garbage. Lot’s of people still go to work, many had 0 choice, this “I can’t do my PC job because I can’t come in” is completely BS.

My problem isn’t just feeling weaker as you level. When I find a new piece of gear, an upgrade, and pause to ask myself if equipping it is going to make me weaker by making monsters stronger… That’s against the whole concept of progression. A character should never become weaker under any circumstances when increasing their numbers.

That’s where I stand, anyways.

I mean, I’ve got someone arguing with me in another thread that WoW has always been about hardcore group content, so…

Thing is people want flying, a July or Aug release means Oct-Nov we will unlock fling. People ain’t waiting that long, especially when we don’t have whistle anymore.

I been grinding wq’s and calling on my 6 60’s and I’m fed up with amount of running to get back to a FP. Basition is pure crap to try and get calling done in and its worse when they require 4.

Ahh, ok. My apologies!

This is where they messed up. Mobs should first scale to our level. Then they can scale to gear but only a few ilvls and then that scaling should stop. Being the same level as us is enough really.

I think it’s more to the point DO the developers even CARE that their game sucks. Think that is the more daunting issue at hand.

DO they really EVEN CARE.

I think many mistake hardcore for no-life.

Absolutely. A 50 should melt with 1 or 2 basic auto shots. We are talking about mobs 17% lower which is huge. We have no feeling of progression or getting powerful with our gear, THUS we want higher and higher gear. It’s dumb.

I don’t think the world at any point should EVER scale to ilvl. Scale to level, fine, I don’t like it but understand it, but scaling to ilvl literally defeats the purpose of getting stronger.

Alternate concept - if they want something to be stronger, make it stronger. No scaling required. If the players get stronger and they’re now able to challenge that strong thing? Awesome! Good on them!

God forbid we can actually feel ourselves progressing in an RPG…

Look, friend, we weren’t not going to have a level squish just because it might impact old raid scaling. The state of the entire game vs a niche hobby… Blizzard absolutely made the correct decision going forward.

Now having said that, I think Blizzard should go back and fixing the scaling issues where they exist, no doubt about that, but pretending that some mog farmers whining means we shouldn’t have had a substantial revamp to the bloated leveling system… it’s a joke. A total joke. You don’t burn your whole house down because you saw a spider. That’s completely disproportionate. Some people might be afraid of spiders and of course seeing a spider that’s a bummer for them, but claiming a pyromanical reaction to seeing a spider is appropriate is absurd.

Exactly just like in WOD they had to rush and skip stuff to meet release date, same with SL, the covenants were not completed, they combined several parts of the campaign for 2 covenants, I have done campaign for all 4 and several parts are same thing I did on other toons in different covenants, nothing new same rehashed crap.

lol. +1
I was told by a couple players before i started how hardcore classic/vanilla was and that Id spend tons of time eating because of combat being so hard in classic.
big eye roll.
I tried it on 9 characters. Most of the classes covered.
Same exact thing in retail…having to push into zones 3-5 levels higher than I was to get any real challenge at all. If anything, it felt easier because of stuff like Wands doing some serious damage unlike retail where theyre just cosmetic crap for the most part, no abilities like that Arcane (?) wand I got in Classic.

Classic didnt seem to be any harder than retail.
In retail I get swamped before Im geared up and I might die.
Same thing in classic from my experience.

didnt seem to be for hardcore only players much at all

He’s got himself and his buddies to thank for that. TE preach et al, all these “influencers” and 'wannabes" that think they know what the game needs - when they play it 24/7 - they get revenue parasitically from it - that’s a great place to get fresh unbiased input.

Turned out excellent huh? SL is the greatest expansion ever released. Thank god they spent the time making SL the best it could possibly be and listening to feedback about the current systems…oh wait…

Alternately, just do what they did last time and give us some nutty damage multipliers in old content. It’s using a hammer instead of a scalpel to solve the issue, but a solution is what it is.
