Half the Playerbase is gone?

I’d say he is probably pretty close in my experience… My guild has gone to nobody really logging in and everyone has gone onto other games. They tried, I checked out of the game earlier than them due to how Blizzard decided to treat rogue in pve this expansion. The only real thing i’m doing is keeping my renoun up until my sub is finally up. But that was 14 to 16 people pretty much gone. A couple moved onto other guilds because they wanted to continue raiding, but not many.

But at the same time, isn’t it funny that some people manage to create systems / addons that outshines Blizzards own systems but with far less resources?

I saw a youtube video about one of those Warcraft Servers that we don’t talk about here but in that version they had implanted several mechanics that really changed the way you played the game, everything from leveling up to endgame.

For example (i wont go much into details ) there was several ways to do leveling, either ordinary way, a much harder way ( mobs with more hp and doing more dmg ), they even added permadeaths.

When i saw that i really asked myself how so few people can steal customers from a major company simply by offering the customers new ways to play the game and why don’t Blizzard have systems like this?

I’m taking a break until 9.05 or 9.1.

I would still be playing if I didn’t have to grind Soul Ash and Renown to test things. Like, I want to tinker with legendary builds and whatnot but the grind just doesn’t seem worth it.

Other than that, I’m out of things to do. I don’t raid and only do the initial couple weeks of M+ to experience the dungeons. I would level more alts, but threads of fate is still slow, and see my initial comment for why I can’t be bothered.

“But it’s totally normal for the number of players to take a dip after the release of a new expansion.”

Yup, it is, completely normal to start seeing a decline in players 99 days after the release of a new expansion, totally normal no need to be concerned. I’m sure they will soon release another new shiny 6 month sub mount and tell you the mount is free.

Bellular also needs to acknowledge that none of the MMOs are doing very well, wow is definitely the lead and massive competitor in gaming right now.

The huge drop off can mostly be attributed to the expac launch surge ending, paired with the fact the MMO genre just doesn’t do it for people anymore.

Eh, you get clicks by saying outrageous stuff.

I doubt they’ve lost a quarter of the player base, but the numbers are definitely down.

But if you don’t raid, pvp or do mythics, by this point most players are kind of out of goals and plans on what to do with their character. That covers a lot of players, but not all.

New expansion sees’ spike, honeymoon phase ensues and then player base evens out to it’s normal population.

Sounds like same ol’

the people who watch this stuff, are the same people who need to be told how they’re meant to feel about everything.

they’re gullible.

all the people posting are still here… even the ones who are loudly proclaiming that they’re leaving.

Personally I do not care what streamers say. I believe in free will.

Pretty much. And that’s nothing new in society.

“Influencers” are just the latest versions. Before that it was infomercials. Before that it was talk radio. Before that it was tabloids. Before that it was yellow press.

I un-subbed March 10th I am gone until some changes with gear are made.

Oh I’ll be gone soon enough. I just want to get out the last bit of bitter venom that’s inside me that Blizzard put there.

Rameses III says “the sea people stink and you should hate them”.

A large chunk of players were also pissed at Legion/BFA scaling post squish. We were told things would be as easy post squish, but then they decided to go ahead and make BFA content scale to level 60 numbers.

Older content is a big deal to casual play, and to tell people that ‘they’ll be able to do it by the end of Shadowlands’ instead of owning up and fixing it leaves a bad taste.

It’s google trends, why would you take it seriously? How does anyone take Bellular seriously anymore?

It probably is.

Honestly though, hasn’t WoW basically been shedding half its playerbase in the first few months of every expansion since like MoP?

I feel like folks keep coming back, trying to relive the experiences of first joining WoW - whenever it is - chasing nostalgia. They play through the content, hit the grind treadmill again and are like: “Nope, not feeling those old happy feelings anymore” and quit again.

It’s pretty normal, which is why they’re focusing more on cash shop, have systems that enable gold buying - they’re tripling down on milking the playerbase that actually does stick around and get those who’d otherwise leave to stick around longer (IE: trying to tie folks down for 6 months)
