So we learned that half elves are now the Arathi people. Now the question is when such customization(and really this is at this point a question of if and not when) such customization options will be given to humans/kul tiran/void and blood elf. Because right now it is purely an NPC option.
I expect we will get some sort of “night elf black eye” sort of questline being added mid expac.
I hope so, but also a new model for half elf could be amazing too
I hope we get Kul’tiran Paladins soon with those half elf options.
A blood elf with human ears is just a skinny human.
I think they should just be added as regular character customisation. No unlock required.
Theyre not arathi customisation as far as i can tell. Just half elf. And we already have half elves in universe.

Soon I’ll be able to play that blue dwarf with pink hair in a shaggy style, blue-glowing pupil-less eyes and hooves I’ll always wanted!
I’d be surprised if they ever let players use the ear options. They don’t really like to give us anything besides hair colors, skin colors, and brand new races at this point.
Given some of the dialogue in the alpha, it doesn’t look like the ear options will ever be available to players and are strictly used for Arathi NPCs to make them look different from other humans and elves.
I’m not getting too excited by the ear options at this time.

In the alpha. Hallowfall was made available for testing this week, so there’s a lot more details about them now.

Faerin Lothar and the Hallowfall zone is has more lore about the Arathi people. There are a ton of Arathi children datamined with “elf” ears like Faerin.
You’ve put me on the spot there. I can’t actually remember where I saw/heard it. It might have been in a T&E video. The general gist though was that the expedition that split off from the old Arathor empire consisted of humans and elves. And over the centuries they have done a lot of mingling. Those elves are just crazy for humans, as we know.
The group that split off formed their own empire, which is not what we are seeing in hallowfall. Hallowfall is from another group that split off from their empire just 15 years ago. So that main Arathi empire is still out there, yet to be seen!
