Hacked Battle.Net Account

Hello,

I’m speaking on behalf of my friend who’s World of Warcraft Classic Era account was hacked into and stolen. The original email was changed without verifying anything. I’m not sure how someone can so easily steal someone’s Battle.Net account, but it’s a bit frustrating that nobody has responded his Ticket ID: US97759027. Can anyone in support confirm his ticket was submitted?
The “Thank You!” picture he shows says it was submitted but there’s no confirmation via email. He tried creating an account with the original email but the website says you have to be level 10 to make a thread. Why it so difficult to get his account back?

He can’t call Blizzard because there’s no live support, and after 3-4 days now the character has name & server changed, etc. He’s spent many years on this character and he’s submitted a ticket with proof of ID yet no response from Blizzard.

Can someone please help with this?

Considering you are stating that you are posting on your friend’s behalf and not your own, I doubt you’ll get any information about a ticket your friend opened.

However, this is general chat, which is for players to chat with other players. You may wish to post in the Customer Support forums.

This is a can of worms that raises a bunch of questions, but my first questions would be around which third-party services your friend attempted to buy an account from, give access to their account, etc.

If your friend had no such shady interactions, then I’d be curious who exactly your friend gave access to their computer and/or mobile device or whatever they are using their Multi-Factor Authenticator on, or what prompted them to turn it off.

Either way, hopefully you and your friend can sort things out and find a workable solution.

Best of luck!

CS forums for this.

Yes they can confirm if it has been or not. But since you are not the account owner of the person who had their account hacked or “hacked” then they likely will not tell you the status of the ticket. Kinda sounds like your friend got a pilot from someone and they decided to keep the account for their own. If that is the case then they probably can give the account back but all he got with this pilot will be removed. As well as achieves he got with it and mounts. Since achieves cannot be removed then the only option they can do is to delete the toon that got that pilot and then give him (or maybe it is you speaking in 3rd person IDK) , they will then give the account BACK to your friend (or maybe you) but it will in that case be a COPY of what that account was BEFORE the account takeover happened. They only keep those copies for a little while before those copies are deleted. If an exploit did happen and not enough time has passed to where the copies of your toons have been lost since before they got the stuff from the pilot, then your friend (or possibly you) can get the account back as it was before the account was taken. IF too much time has passed since that happened, then the account cannot be given back as no copies of the account that existed from before the “hack” will be available to you. For getting your account back, time is your ally. The longer you wait, the more likely it cannot be done.

If by chance there was a gold or raid mount purchase that involved a pilot in order to get, he (you?) should fully expect to log back in game with everything acquired during that time period to be missing.

Name and server changes or even toons moved to a new account will not matter in the slightest. Then can track all of that. Very possible his (your?) entire battlenet friends list was erased.

CS will likely LOCK the entire battlenet account during the recovery process so he (you?) need to get ready for that. They do that to ensure that no more damage is done that what has been done already.
