“Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do.” — Ronald Reagan. This was based on a misunderstanding about the nature of volatile organic compounds. Those created by trees are harmless. It was idiotic and everybody knew it.
Adendum: However burning wood causes alot more pollution than a car does. Like, a lot. “Burning one cord of wood produces as much carcinogenic particles as 1,000 cars during a 65 mile commute.”

- Fire:
- Pyroclasm: Consuming 8 Hot Streaks makes your next non-instant cast Pyroblast deal 240% additional damage. Maximum 2 stacks.
- Pyroclasm (Current effect): Consuming Hot Streak has a 15% chance to make your next non-instant cast Pyroblast deal 240% additional damage. Maximum 2 stacks.
- The idea here is simple: I can already see that you’re trying to make Sun King’s Blessing better on the PTR by allowing it to proc for every 8 Hot Streaks (down from 12) and the Combustion for 6 seconds (up from 5). I completely agree with you Blizzard: this is a really cool legendary that I wish got more use. By natural synergy, this talent is perfect for it: both Sun King’s Blessing and Pyroclasm require casting a non-instant Pyroblast to proc the effect. The problem is RNG: I have gone through entire Combustion phases without getting the Pyroclasm effect, but while having the Sun King’s Blessing effect (which lasts 15 seconds, so I can’t just store it until I get Pyroclasm either). I feel that by removing that RNG, you would solidify Sun King’s Blessing position as a good legendary, while at the same time giving fire mages the option to pick Pyroclasm (which is so sad that it hardly sees any play, it’s such a cool talent!). For those who are worried about this being a buff to fire mages: don’t worry! Current Pyroclasm proc rate is 15%, and moving it to every 8 Hot Streaks gives an average proc rate of 12.5% (1/8).
- Flame On: (Passive) Reduces the cooldown of Fire Blast by 2 seconds
- Fire Blast (Rank 5): Fire Blast now has 3 charges
- Flame on (Current effect): Reduces the cooldown of Fire Blast by 2 seconds and increases the maximum number of charges by 1.
- I’m going to put these two suggestions together. Here is the idea: I want the level 35 talent row to work. I really do. But there is simply no way that Alexstrasza’s Fury or From the Ashes can compete with Flame on. The additional charge on Fire Blast essentially allows for another Pyroblast or Flamestrike (depending on the situation) during your Combustion window, where your damage dealt is counted in the number of Hot Streaks you consume. However, I can see that you have made efforts to make the other two talents work (i.e. Alexstrasza’s Fury increased damage on next Pyroblast by 35%). With the suggested change to Pyroclasm above, you could take Alexstrasza’s Fury and use it right before using your Pyroclasm-empowered Pyroblast to get a 35% damage boost on top of the 240% damage boost on that one non-instant Pyroblast. In addition, because Sun King’s Blessing would then proc, that Pyroclasm-empowered Pyroblast would crit, and because the Alexstrasza’s Fury empowered Dragon’s Breath would already have given you 1 stack of Heating up, with the Pyroclasm-empowered Pyroblast giving you the 2nd stack, you could immediately follow that up with an instant Pyroblast. I think that would really make Sun King’s Blessing viable and perhaps even competitive, in addition to giving fire mages a ton of decision making in their talents. Now, for those worried that this is a buff to fire mages, fear not: For those fire mages that continue to pick Flame on, no, this is literally the same thing as current, no changes whatsoever. For those that pick off-pick talents like Alexstrasza’s Fury or From the Ashes: yes, this is a buff, but it is a buff to a style of fire mage that currently sees almost no play due to the overwhelming dominance of Flame on at the moment. I believe Flame on will keep being competitive (who doesn’t like more Fire Blasts?), but I also think that this change will make other talents in this row viable, and give incredible synergy with Sun King’s Blessing.
- Overall, I think these changes, if implemented, would not change the current meta of fire mages, but would allow for more diversity of builds within the fire mage spec. Top fire mages will still go Kindling and Flame on and Combustion for days in the MDI and Mythic raids. What these changes would do is increase the viability of non-meta builds for this great spec Blizzard has built over the years. I would really like it if you guys took a least a little look at this. Let me know your thoughts!
