Guldan in the shadowlands, How it should have been

Wasn’t his soul stuck in his skull and later eaten by Illidan?

No. He crushes Gul’dans skull in his hand in the cinematic

And that was AU Gul’dan. MU Gul’dan was torn to shreds.

Shadowlands soul sorting was dumb. Zul’jin goes to Revendreth but Vashj goes to Maldraxxus. Why? shrug

Gul’dan was ruthless, powerful, and scheming. Seems like a good fit for Maldraxxus to me.

Difference is Vash was loyal, and that’s what got her sent to Maldraxxus. Gul’dan is a conniving and self serving orc

Maldraxxus is not a realm based on Loyalty. It is survival of the fittest.

Still doesn’t explain Zul’jin, either.

Vash literally states it’s one of the reasons that got her sent to Maldraxxus though

Not that I’m surprised at inconsistencies at this point, but Vashj being loyal should not factor into her showing up in Maldraxxus at all, especially when she is clearly a match for all of the qualities above (but still begs the question, why is Zul’jin in Revendreth, then?)

Well yes, thats a question people who know Draenei lore actually wondered about, what happens to the souls that are in Auchindoun? Do they go to the Shadowlands? How does it work?

Never got a question about it.

Fel destroy souls. So technically, he is gone.

All things considered, if you didn’t see your faction/race represented a lot in Shadowlands then you should really consider yourself lucky.

As of the draenei heritage quest the Auchenai are still tending to souls in Auchindoun and they are not passing on to the Shadowlands. It’s unexplained why or how though.

Restalaan, Hataaru, and Larohir all died long before most of the other people we see in the Shadowlands, but are just chilling in Auchindoun still. Hataaru is even completely at peace with his death and didn’t move on to the Shadowlands.

It’d be one thing if draenei just didn’t move on to the Shadowlands for some reason, but we do see draenei souls in the Shadowlands. So the Auchenai are keeping the souls out of the Shadowlands for some reason, which needs explanation.

During Battle for Azeroth, Bwonsamdi does admit to losing a spirit once when freaking out about where Vol’jin’s was and realizing that he wasn’t in his urn. So it’s possible that said spirit was Zul’jin.

At the very least we know that Team Zovaal wasn’t shy about moving souls about, as shown by Mueh’zhala throwing Ashmane into the Maw for refusing to join them. So Mueh’zhala and Denathrius could have worked together to bring Zul’jin to Revendreth to serve as an Anima fuel source.

(Snark, snark)

I mean, maybe they already saw what the Shadowlands was looking like, even way back then. Wouldn’t you want to keep your people out of there??

That’s all the explanation I need!!

Feasible, but unlikely. They tucked him away in a random cellar? Not in Torghast or Nathria?

Yes, i was talking in the shadowlands expac, but you are right, my theopry was that the naaru prevent them to go into it. But its not said sadly.

can we just agree shadowlands sucks? There’s no reason they needed to make the afterlife suck that bad and just be a big nihilistic sh*tpost.

Hey, all the characters you loved are just suffering forever. It was a trend at the time, I don’t care about star wars but I always found it needlessly cruel to kill off the old cast brutally when they’re literally past retirement age. there was a few other IPs like it at the time and still are, it’s imo the writers way of giving justice to social injustices of the real world, like
“hey your story doesn’t matter its fake and I can ruin it and I think it’s funny now look at these real world issues”

When we meet Zul’jin in Shadowlands, he’s hidden in a crypt in the northwestern part of the Halls of Atonement with the title Wrathful Soul. This suggests that he was amongst the other Wrathful Souls within the Military Ward, before he ended up escaping from the Venthyr.

That lends more credence to him being sorted into Revendreth deliberately by the Arbiter.

Worst sorting hat.

Could have been. If so, it calls into the question on which soul Bwonsamdi had lost before.
