Why is that LFG is always spammed with Guild Recruitment??? Blizz really needs to address this and start punishing people for improper use of channels its toxic to see the same 12 lines of a trash guild spam LFG when trying to look for Groups
I agree with this take actually. There was a time in TBC where they really started to crack down on it, and for like a month it was super nice not seeing guild recruitment spam or boosting spam. (Even though that’s how I made the vast majority of my gold in TBC).
There really needs to be a guild recruitment channel, and guild spam needs kept out of trade/LFG.
Also I think any political nonsense in LFG chat should be cause for instant chat suspension. (I know this is over the top, I just hate it). We have a handful of trolls on my server that will just post some dumb political take to get all the people who can’t help but argue about it in a rage war.

Is there a rule somewhere that LFG is only used for groups forming now? If so please point us to Blizzard’s statement.

There was a rule posted back in TBC era, and no, I’m not going to fish for the blue post for you. You can find it yourself if you’re interested.
At that time, people were getting chat bans for posting guild recruitment messages and selling boosting services in the LFG channel. It was a brief (about a month) but glorious period when these rules were actively enforced.
And no, LFG is not intended for guild recruitment. That should be done in the general chat. LFG is meant for players looking for a group, not a guild. And before you argue semantics by asking, “A guild is a type of group isn’t it?”, please don’t be disingenuous and take things out of context to fit a twisted narrotive.

I don’t mind them if they’re concise and not spammed every time they come off the LFG chat cooldown.
That being said, the ones that hit LFG, Trade, and some even hit General chat, all at the same time with paragraph long ads are the ones I find annoying and eventually get on the ignore list.

There’s supposed to be a guild finder UI in game, but that got delayed because they’re too busy working on SoD phase 4.

The problem is… they do. It’s so bad on Bene and Pagle at times, it’s impossible to read the LFG chat. 99% of the time I just turn off the LFG channel because it’s pointless to even have on. It’s just nonestop guild spam scrolling text during peak hours And in off hours its idiots arguing about politics.
I turn off all trade, group, local, etc chat. Most have nothing of interest to say.
The only chat i keep on is guild chat. We have everything one needs. I am fortunate in that regard.

Where would you post it then? Trade chat is an obvious no and if you leave out LFG then the only channel that’d be acceptable is general chat which is limited to the zone you’re in.
World chat doesn’t count because that’s not an offical channel I honestly see no reason as to why it’s a bad thing, LFG already has the 1 post per minute rule and if it’s such a big deal to you then use a chat filter like LFG Bulletin Board.
I just don’t understand how you expect guilds to recruit players if LFG is off the table.

LFG is the only game wide channel.
Ever since I started either wow, I’ve said one thing. this game needs more universal game chat channels.
Okay, 2 things. Add greater flexibility in player created game wide channels. Not guild based. eve has this. you make a channel, tell people its name and now the whole game can come there in theory.
Despite the myth everyone sits in a city and just queue’s, some don’t. I took a hunter to 84 today. She completed hyjal quest string today with RDF filler. No where near thrones, but damn she saw the place a lot lol.

You can create all the channels you’d like to in WoW as well - the olny problem is how to tell others that they exist.
Guild recruiting in a channel that only spans one zone seems really stupid.

Lol every single server has a discord that has guild recruitment spamming LFG is toxic just go make a post on that disc and fill out an app
I would rather see this other than the people making childish remarks about groups running COC or arguing about politics.

LFG is meant to be used to form groups and fine people for your groups. it’s that simple anything outside of that is 100% spam and should be reported and penalized.
You’re making the claim.
You provide the evidence.
If you won’t, I’m not going to waste my time hunting, when your claim may based on nothing more than wishful thinking.
I’ll just simply assume you’re being deliberately dishonest.
That said, the game has changed significantly since TBC.
The LFG tool is much more powerful than the LFG channel for finding groups. Allowing you to view listings you may have missed in chat; it tracks the status of listings; you apply filters to search.
So there’s less of a need to minimise content that’s not 100% “relevant”.
And don’t forget, guilds are groups - so there is at least some relevance.
