Clearly not as the option to sort by Bid would still be an option and you’d still have people whining about it for the exact same reason we have right now. You only entirely remove the possibility of this occurring with zero changes in the population’s behavior by REMOVING the option to sort by Bid and REPLACING it with the option to sort by Buyout.
That is not a simple change because that is a change in functionality of the baseline AH, and for that reason we aren’t getting such a change without a much better argument than people getting “scammed” by non-scams.
Never said it was too complicated, I said that you don’t get a “simple change” when the functionality you want for the purpose you want necessitates REMOVING an existing function.
You need a reason to remove sorting by Bid for your suggestion to work, otherwise these non-scams don’t go away.
The reason being so “observant” is required is because scammers exist. If scammers didn’t exist, a quick glance at the price would be all that’s needed, because you wouldn’t be worried about an item having a buyout 1000x what it’s worth.
So we will have one way to do everything. Any deviation results in account suspension. Every auction is the same stack size and same price.
Every quest is given with exacting instruction “go twenty meters and turn 35 degrees to the left, go 2 miles……” any deviation is an account suspension.
In fact the game plays itself and you just watch. This will maximize fun while minimizing the risk of a mistake.

Then you take everyone to court and argue there was no warning label on my peanuts telling me my peanuts are peanuts. None of this is my fault, that employee should have known I was allergic to peanuts, someone force them to warn me that peanuts are peanuts.
