Guild Wiper

Does anyone know if Blizz actually takes action against the players that join guilds just to later on remove numerous players, clear out the gbank gold and whatnot? I know this kinda stuff been going on for ages now, just wondering if its something worth making the ticket for

Generally they don’t unless there’s extenuating circumstances, like someone getting hacked or something.

From what I have heard, they tend to be hands off about this. After all you have to grant them permission to do really anything that bad to the guild to begin with.

Awkward and Caelin are correct.

Unless a Guild Master is hacked/compromised and the issues arise from that, Blizzard won’t step in.

The philosophy is that the guild belongs to the Guild Master. They are the ones who set up ranks, bank permissions, etc. If they don’t want someone in the bank, don’t give them access, or limit it. If they don’t want someone to be able to dethrone them later, they need to set those people below rank 3.

They have a Spotlight article on it to help folks

And the Guild Dethrone article

If you were inactive for longer than 90 days and another guild member took the leadership of your guild, talk to the new Guild Master. If the new Guild Master doesn’t want to give you the leadership back, Customer Support will not intervene

EDIT - there is one tiny exception to this. If you were original GM, were dethroned, are still in the guild, AND the new GM is inactive. Sometimes they will give you the guild back. It is rare those conditions are met though.

This is why as a GM, we host interviews and other precautionary measures to get to know and filter members BEFORE letting them in/deputizing them to officer…

Someone NOT wanting to go through even a short interview is a multiple red flag: it shows they have no dedication and will not participate, suggests they have something to hide, they are not interested in the guild and it’s community/atmosphere just the perks, etc.

No, unless you were hacked as the GM, it comes down on you entirely given if you were dethroned then that means you needed to set up your rank system. Along with set up your permissions on who can and cannot kick and access the guild bandlk.

It looks like only one other person has made the cut :upside_down_face:

Op, I didn’t think ppl put anything significant in guilds generally unless it’s an established one.

You have to be very picky of who you pick as an officer and even then sometimes you can get burned.

People suck.

Apparently no one actually wants to do an interview… I post when and where the interviews are to be and nobody shows up… granted it’s the end of a particularly bad expansion, so I’ll try again closer to DF if nobody shows up today.

An interview sounds like fun. I’m used to only high progression guilds doing them though

Hard to say unless its been an actual proven hack and gank.

Best bet if running a guild is.Only open funds for repairs.Limit items that can taken per rank.Dont raise ranks unless players have proven over time to be a good fit for officer and up.

For example. I won’t rank anyone assistant gm unless Ive played with them for awhile(6 months or more) and know I can trust throughly. (My assistant gm is someone I’ve known in rl and in game forever and only set ability to rank up via the gm or asst gm.

Getting hacked and giving away the keys to the castle are two different things.

If someone is petty enough to make various fake friendships and support the guild all the way up to being promoted to an officer role I can’t help but just respect it at that point. That’s a serious amount of dedication to the craft of guild ruining.

you don’t even get invited to my guild unless you’re a friend of a current raider. and you certainly don’t get guildbank access.

raiders have access to three tabs, and I only put things in there I’m willing to lose, anything else (mats for cauldrons, etc) are locked down to a few specific people. if someone wants something not one of the “supplies for raid” tabs, they need to talk to an officer.

don’t invite random people then give them power and unfettered access to your bank. that’s how you get burned.

When I’m been made officer in the past I usually ask to still not have access to the bank.

If someone needs something so bad they can go buy it in the ah :woman_shrugging:

Generally not as that isn’t against the rules.

This is why privileges are generally restricted for trusted players in the guild.

Soooo… I don’t get an interview?

Filthy pirates!

Might be hard, is Mok’nathal connected to Moonguard? If you’ve got any alts here I can interview them today.

I know I wouldn’t do an interview. this isnt a job.

Why are you giving officer rank to random nobodies ?
