Guild Recruitment in LFG Tool - Rules?

I was arguing with some guy in the raid finder about using it for things other than looking for groups as they can be reported and they asked where to find it in the TOS. He swears it doesn’t count since it’s for a guild and not sales. I don’t believe it’s for guild recruitment and I am sure it’s probably been mentioned somewhere before.

I know I found this: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20765567152 but it was only related to advertisements from people selling carries if I recall. Is there any information about it somewhere or is it allowed?

Thank you in advance for clarification.

Pretty sure it isn’t in the TOS. But you can no longer sell runs in LFG for gold (or RWC) in the LFG channel, either? Though I’m not sure if that also isn’t in the TOS.

Looking for Group is being streamlined to be exactly that.

“Beginning Monday, July 2nd, we will no longer allow any advertisements in the Group Finder for in-game services such as carries or boosts, including those being offered in exchange for in-game gold. The Group Finder is intended for – as the name suggests – finding groups, and these advertisements make it difficult to find active groups that are currently being formed.”

Sounds like you can safely report for spam. And encourage others to do the same.

Yeah I mean I figured it wasn’t allowed but if I can have a blue post backing it up, I would gladly spam it to people on my recruitment discord. = p I just wanna pug into M Taloc on my alt and not really enjoying all the guild advertisements. I already included the link you had posted because that was the closest I could find but wasn’t sure if it was “clear” enough to someone trying to make a case.

If you feel it is against the rules, right click and report for advertising. No need to “take the law into your own hands” and message them. That will only result in them reporting you, which can result in being silenced.

Just report them and allow Blizzard to handle it.

Technically, the Group Finder tool is intended to help folks find groups for quests, dungeons, raids, etc. Not really for guild recruitment, as that has its own tool.

That said, there isn’t anything specifically prohibiting them from advertising anything other than for quests, dungeons, raids, etc… as long as they aren’t advertising runs for sale. Keep in mind though, if such use becomes an issue, we often will change the functionality or policies around it to better serve the community and intended functionality of a system.

I think it might be time to revisit the Guild Recruitment tool and Guild Recruitment as whole. I’d like to be able to search for players looking for a guild a lot easier. The guild recruitment forums are great but there is one player for every 10 guilds so I spend most of my time weeding through other guilds looking for that one player that might fit my time slot. Separating the forums into players and guild would alleviate that problem a bit.

Doing a similar thing with the guild recruitment tool would give guilds a great option in game. It would make life easier to find players on your server looking for a guild as lower end guild have a harder time finding people to transfer servers.

Currently we rely on the forums where we have to weed through post of other recruiters. The greatest tool recruiters have right now is Siera’s recruitment discord. Most of this end game content in this game requires a guild. I think it’s time blizzard reexamines the tools it provide guilds to recruit.

You’re going to want to make a post in General Discussion, then. Customer Support has no hand in game design or influence.
