Guild Disappeared

I’m the guild leader of Rule Three on Stormrage. I’ve been inactive and unsubbed for about 5 months. One of our members logged on and said the guild was gone. If you look on the armory it still says our guild name, but when you click on the guild it doesn’t exist. I know this isn’t due to inactivity, because I have plenty of other guilds that haven’t been deleted after years. What’s the issue and how can it be rectified?

The guild hasn’t been disbanded, and I doubt the name has been requested.

What i suspect happened is you didnt secure ur guild as good as you thot and got dethroned and kicked and the new GM renamed the guild. Anyone rank 3 or higher can dethrone after 90days.

Transfer would have left a copy of the guild behind with the name.

Unless they changed how it worked you need to appoint a guildmaster for the guild left behind when you transfer the guild.

Your probably right i just assumed if they kicked everyone but the GM the guild would disapear in that case i stand by my original theroy name change.

Yeah, either the name change or the guild was disbanded and those who haven’t logged back in yet are still in the armory as being in the guild.

Ruffle’s right that the guild has to be passed on to another character prior to transferring leaving an empty shell behind.

So we’re assuming one of the ranked 3 or higher members requested GM, took what they wanted and then disbanded the guild?

How do you go about requesting?

If we’re talking retail, then it’s done in game in the guild interface: there’s a button to push, if you meet the rank requirement, you can use it to dethrone the guild leader.

In retail it’s automated, not sure about classic.

Has anyone tried logging into the game? The armory might simply be out of date.

Correct, the link Kozzae provied has the details:

A guild member with sufficient rank can take control of the guild from an inactive leader. Once they guild is theirs, they may do whatever they wish with it - including removing members, bank contents, renaming, or disbanding it.

Outside of something like an account compromise, this would not be something the Game Masters would intervene in though, I’m sorry.

Can you verify who guild leader was given to? Character name?

Yes and there is no guild.

I can confirm that it was a pre-existing member of the guild that was rank 3 for almost the last year and there doesn’t appear to have been any unauthorized access to that account.

Outside of that, I won’t be able to provide specific details of which member of the guild it was.

Why can’t you say who was the person who took over my guild?

Blizzard doesn’t release info about one party to another, simply put. More to the point, once a guild is taken over, it’s their item to do with and Blizzard isn’t going to be someone’s bloodhound in this.

For the privacy and safety of all players, we would not disclose the in-game actions of one player to another.

The information I was able to provide was just to confirm to you that these actions were not the result of an account compromise since I indicated previously that a compromise would be the only circumstance where we’d be able to intervene.

Hold up. If you transfer a guild to a new server, the original remains?

Yes. All the guild bank contents go to the new server, but the original guild name and the empty guild bank remain on the original server. If the original guild had opened additional tabs in the guild bank, the remaining guild has those still open as well.
