Question: Will noobs be provided in the guild?
Not sure what you mean by provided but they are welcomed for sure!
OP, I actually dig your premise. One of the most frustrating things I have witnessed was noobs being PLed and carried so that the speedlevelers could fill their raids. The noobs learning virtually nothing along the way as a result, and their experience playing the game dramatically cheapened. I myself would prefer to be in a genuine noob guild, so that stronger bonds, those beyond PLed warm bodies, could be made.
Good thread and idea, OP.
Are you still in need of a guild?
edit: that was harsh
OP, I bet if you created a guild you would get plenty of interest from people returning who do not want the race/minmax stress.
Iām glad to see there is a lot of interest in this form of play. Iām no guild leader, though. I donāt have the desire or the drive to lead people.
Edit: I plan on replying to comments on this thread, but Iām currently on my phone. Anyone who has used this forum on their phone knows that it does not work very well. So, I will di so when I get home.
So youād be a noob guild leader then. Pick officers you are cool with, ones who share your vision of the guild, and youād only need to make the rare decisions. Youād really only need to keep the spirit of the guild steered in the original direction.
Consider me interested. I mained a Gnome Demonology Warlock in vanilla and managed a little bit of raiding, but thereās tons of stuff I never got to see. Iām more inclined to try Horde this time (specifically a Shaman, maybe a Druid), but who knows?
I wasnāt at all interested in raids, until I read this. Youāve hit on a fantastic idea. Sounds really fun.
Just name the guild
< Noobzzzzzz >
Really, this would be the next best thing to turning back the clock.
If I may I would suggest a couple guild principles:
- No powerleveling of lowbies by high level toons
- No gear/level/talent build shaming
- No drama
Honestly, I really like this premise too. I started playing waaaay back in '04 and didnāt raid until towards the end of BC as a priest. I remember Kara raiding, but thats it. I ended up quitting during my first year of college (which was at the end of BC, right before the release of the next xpac) so I didnāt get a whole lot of experience with it. Since then, jeezā¦ the only experience I have in raiding is ranged dps with LFR, so, none.
I am totally hyped for Classic and plan on rolling a UD Priest on an RP/PVE server, and this is an idea that I definitely love. I hate having the pressure of minmaxing and constantly being pushed to go faster, do better but with little explanation or tips. Reading/Watching guides are good, but I enjoy experiencing things first hand more.
So thatās my two cents.
WHOA! These were two KEY elements of a noob guild! I got kicked out of my first guild that I helped make full of former SWG players because I was HELPING people do quests and level upā¦ and they HELPED me gear out a Twinkā¦ The Guild Leader hated Twinkingā¦

I think there might be difference between helping someone level/gear up and powerleveling them though lol
No one likes drama! Shame on you!
Oh yea when I left so did half of the guild and most of them joined one of the better raiding guild with me. So yea my original guild never cleared MC but I was able to get into AQ40 before TBCā¦ did not do well but it was there.
I suppose it is good to have an example of what some of us would rather avoid.
ok, I am in.
who has a van?
how many vans will we need?
guessing 1 van per 5 toons.
Alright, after a long couple of days, I have the time to actually reply to people here.
I suppose that would be part of the plan, yes. In my opinion, it simply makes the game more challenging, and I like challenging.
I love cookies.
I will certainly look into your guild. It is comforting to know that people of like mind to myself are already forming guilds.
You comment about being carried and learning nothing along the way really strikes home for me. I donāt find it fun to just have someone else tell me where to stand, what to equip, etc. I like to find that out for myself(or in this case, along side a guild of other noobs). In my limited experience doing MC and ZG on a private server, 90% of the time was the guild leader telling people exactly what to do and explaining each boss and all of their mechanics before we actually did the fight. Not very entertaining to me.
And thank you for the compliment.
My conclusion of this thread so far is that there really is a silent group of people out there who donāt want to min/max everything. That gives me lots of hope. I donāt feel I am the right person to lead this group, as some have suggested, but I certainly would rather take on the responsibility than let the opportunity go. That being said, it seems at least one guild of a similar idea is already in the making. Obviously one guild cannot cover all timezones, factions, and servers, but there certainly is a place to start.
I will be keeping watch for which of these you choose to start your guild. Iām very interested in joining.
I know you may have some anxieties about running a guild, but look at the interest that you have sparked in just a couple days? Lets do this. Lets start this from the ground up. I ran a small guild in vanilla but never ran a raid. Consider me one of your officers. I can get the logistics moving, and anyone on this thread that is down, i can coordinate with. We can work on a charter and names later. But those that share this passion should be our priority
