Title… Sucks bad… Many of my friends for years now decided to form a new guild and gutted our raid team. Many people that stayed are also my friends. I hate this so much and we had so many plans for ICC and now all of that is over.
Reasons why are different for each but this seems to always happen in this expansion. Same thing happened to my guild in 2010 and always ends with never seeing these people again. What is it about ICC that brings out the worst in folks?

We had a very good and agreed upon vote for that. The guy who voted first left with the first wave? But yeah I’m thinking it’s about progressing heroics and then not getting far enough fast enough before…

Yup, that’s my thinking too… but only 25 stuff… But even when we had 23,24 people ready to raid and we would look for 1 or 2 people we’d have trouble with that. Our 10 man teams never had issues. Both of them… we had about 5 people or less that would have troubles in 25 man stuff but only the hardmodes/Anub nothing else. So they think they will find 10-15 new players now? All the best raiders on our server have guilds…

Friends are temporary but ICC gear is forever. Wait maybe that’s backwards…Nope, no that’s right.

Well, that sucks!
IDK, but at least it’s a common enough thing that you know there are other guild groups looking for reliable people to fill out their rosters!
Best of luck going forward man!

End game raids will make or break a guild. I’ve seen many guilds break up because of raid drama.

shadowmourne priority. without even knowing who your friends are and what they play, i can almost guarantee that one of the main reasons that group split off is cause one of their leaders either got passed over on SM or they don’t like who got it first and thinks someone else (who they are taking with them) deserves it more.

Yea we kept losing our best players and would get hard stuck and then just go backwards on progress in raids… we eventually made the jump to Old Blanchy and then our beloved Raid Leader quit WoW entirely. That left a huge hole in our morale and we limped through Ulduar as best we could…
Yogg took the best of us that sad day and we all fell into madness…

I had to look for new guilds right before P2 and P3. You do what you have to do if you want to keep raiding.

Good news is that with a ton of new and returning players I’m sure you’ll be able to fill your ranks fast

Well, ICC will last a long time. I know it sucks not being at the front of the pack, but if ever you wanted to re-tool a roster, this is the best phase for it.
I know things aren’t like back in 2010, so this likely won’t happen, but perhaps you can find players returning from long absences. While their gear might not be up to snuff right now, chances are they can get caught up rather quick. It doesn’t take much to get geared enough for ICC 10s on normal mode, and the drops there are more than adequate to get new recruits into 25s.
If you give an under-geared player a chance, perhaps that player thrives and does great for your guild. You are also more likely to cultivate loyalty from such a player than just grabbing a person with 5,500 GS that will dip as soon as things get rough.
Just a thought.

Not sure, but its an easy raid so not certain what would cause failure on that magnitude.
Good news for you is that it will be pugged from day 1

You overestimate the average Classic Player.
Take what you think the “average” player is for wotlk or classic in general, and cut their thought process in half, then take those same individuals and cut it in half once more.
That is your average classic player.
I used to think the average PvP player was like 1800-2k roughly. I remember having a couple conversations however and then I thought “ok well the average player MUST be atleast 1600 then, right?” That was until Holinka stated that the average PvP players around 1300-1400 rating.
