The scam of guild bank alts is a bigger issue than a guild bank being cleaned out because with the guild bank alt system, you don’t even know it’s happening, thus you can’t address the issue and fix it.
If you’ve ever played the sandbox game of Eve I find the social and guild political risks of guild bank alts to add to the Vanilla experience instead of detract from it.
So do that. Nothing’s stopping you. I have yet to see a legitimate argument for breaking the data and permanently changing a core gameplay system the way you guys want to do it.
You can come up with secondary arguments 'til the cows come home, but the fact of the matter is that you want guild banks because it’s more convenient. I don’t care what else you say; I know the actual motive.
No, you made yourself out to be a martyr. You’re blaming the audience for their response to your righteous standpoint on all issues of forum etiquette.
Also this, lol. Clearly you think very highly of yourself.
Can more than one person access your in-game mail? Is it instant deposit/instant withdrawal? You can deposit something in a Stormwind guild bank and withdraw it from Darnassus instantly. How is that not more convenient?
The problem is I’m not here arguing for guild banks for more inventory room. I never had an issue with my inventory in vanilla, nor the time I’ve played on private servers. But what I have seen is whoever is in control of the guild bank alt usually uses it as a form of leverage to get what they want or items just seem to vanish from it from time to time.
Inventory management was never an issue in vanilla for anyone that had half an idea of what they were doing. Scams, ToS violation, exc. were and still show to cause issues on private servers. Some private servers even allow account sharing for a guild bank alt now because people kept breaking the normal ToS they have of no account sharing.
Another reason this is a change blizzard should consider is this.
Do you ban the shared account and punish the entire guild with them losing their guild resources, or “ignore” the issue even though it is directly breaching the rules. If they go with the first one they just pissed off not one player, but an entire guild. If they go with the second one it offers considerable security risk to the owner of the account of one of the shared users stealing from it and then THAT causes drama for the entries guild with no one knowing who took the items.
Guild banks fix a lot of CS workload as well because of issues like this being avoided.
No. I’m really not blaming the audience. The audience hasn’t typed anything I’ve posted.
Trust me. I know I rub people the wrong way. Whether I’m stating irrefutable facts, being a wise guy, or not.
That isn’t a righteous stand either. That’s pointing out a gameable system that at the end of the day means squat. Why? Because its gameable!
Logically anyone with a brain can see that. Yet here we are with claims of “popular opinion” likes meaning something. <<arrogance.
I have a certain degree of self confidence yes. I think I’m capable.
It’s less convenient for the depositer because now they have to go back to a major city to deposit the item. It can be less convenient to the withdrawal person who could have just wanted to have it mailed to them but it’s in the guild bank now so he either has to convince someone to use their withdrawal (which is usually limited in a properly set up guild bank) or go to a major city to withdraw the item.
On top of that we have stated we would be ok with guild banks only being in ONE city per faction (which isn’t nearly as hard to do as some like to claim, it’s 5 minutes of work at most to only have the guild banks in one city per faction)
Sure guild banks can be more convenient, or less convenient depending on the situation and from who’s PoV.
You act like we’re at a stage of compromise, but honestly you still haven’t even gotten enough support to bring guild banks to an initial vote. There’s no reason to have them in Classic. They weren’t in Classic, they don’t exist in the code of Classic, they aren’t a part of the culture of Classic, they (according to you and Padre) don’t make the game any different, so…aside from some vague “scam” defense (which can honestly happen with guild banks too) you have no concrete reason to add them.
Until you can show me the part of the patch notes for 1.0 through 1.12 that included guild banks, you have failed to meet even the lowest bar of entry for guild banks into Classic.
I’ll consider this argument over until you can prove to me that Guild Banks existed in WoW at some point between patch 1.0 and patch 1.12.
Does more than one person need to be able to? You’re out in the world faming for the guild. Your bag is full. You go to the mailbox and send it to the gba. Its deposited. You go back to farming.
Guild banks you have to leave the area to go make the deposit or mail it to your alt and deposit it later.
Either way you are spending more time making that exact same transaction in that situation.
Sounds like an inconvenience to me.
Thus is dependent upon who has permission to do so as well. No permission to withdraw? Well guess you have to initiate some cinversation and seek out someone in your guild with permission to withdraw. So again that depends on the situation.
I’m at the point where I’m just gonna tell you the same thing I told your companion:
That’s job one. Before guild banks are even placed on the negotiating table, we need some kind of concrete evidence that they existed in Classic. Otherwise, this is a discussion for a potential “WoW Classic: Burning Crusade” project in the future. You’ll have much better luck that time.
Some posters have apparently reached the third stage of grief–bargaining.
They have become so desperate that they think that if they bargain with Blizzard they might get their desired non vanilla QOL convenience change added to classic.
Their desperation is becoming more obvious every day.
We accept your unconditional surrender. Well fought.
