Yes, that would be surprising considering they have no grounds. A bug caused some items in a game to disappear. Nothing lawsuit worthy there.
Tell me you havenât read the Terms of Service without telling me you havenât read the Terms of Service.
Maybe for some people. If I go and buy a TCG item off eBay , throw it a guild bank and it disappears, then I am out real money. If I spend cash to buy gold in wow, use that gold to buy items, and those items disappear, then Iâm once again out of real money. I personally lost tens of millions of gold in items (battle pets, patterns, materials, every category), though I accepted the reality that those items are forever gone months after it occurred. Because of this bug, I have played wow much less, and do not bother playing the auction house anymore. Iâm surprised this thread is even still alive, swore blizz locked it.
Do you guys think they had a big meeting back in August or early September to talk about this issue and brainstorm solutions? How many people were in that meeting? How many people at Blizzard determined the fate of hundreds of millions of our hard fought items?
How many voted for us and wanted to restore out items?
How many voted to blow us over, and didnât care at all what we lost?
Or more likely, the people fixing the bug simply said it was fixed and the restorations were sent out â leaving out important information like the bug is apparently still happening, and the ârestorationsâ were only a handful of junk to a handful of players. Itâs entirely possible the people higher up donât even know the issue isnât fixed.
This seems to be the case. The few people Iâve talked to about the issue in game either didnât know about it, or thought it was fixed and things were mostly restored.
Or maybe they DO work for Blizzard and are just doing as theyâre told. Trying to derail and downplay the issue. It would certainly explain why theyâre still here - most normal people if they werenât actually being paid to do what theyâre doing, would have gotten the hint and gone elsewhere by now.
They locked the original Bug Report thread, which was started in mid-August by a player, Valehaeyn. They locked it I think shortly after THIS thread was started with Linxy âexplainingâ (no, not blaming Linxy but the people who made him or her do this) what happened, what they will do and with a very weak apology). This has now become the main thread, keeping the topic alive so it wonât be completely forgotten (as it got very little mention on the bigger 3rd party sites and barely mentioned by the larger content creators and streamers(, as well as a kind of support group, and a welcoming committee / probably-more-accurate-explanation to people just discovering the bug, who get thrown in here.
And people like Kurnmogh have been doing a lot to try to get the message out there as well.
Just checking in, nothing new, ironic that the release of Nerubians prompted the Nigerian Prince bug that emptied our bank accounts.
This is the height of irresponsibility on Blizzardâs part. The valuable items players have lost and the countless hours they spent gathering them are unimaginable. If converted into free game time, for some, the loss would exceed five yearsâ worth. I emphasize this only because Blizzard seems to care solely about what directly boosts their profit, perhaps framing it this way will help them grasp the scale of the issue theyâve caused. Yet, there is still no news about it, and soon enough, weâll likely see new items for sale on their website instead. We will see whatâs their priority
Given that this issue happened 4+ months ago, I think we already see what their priorities are.
I let my sub lapse at the beginning of October, and unless they somehow give me reason to believe they give half a crap about it, Iâm done with everything Blizzard from now on. I loved Warcraft, and miss it, but I refuse to be treated this poorly by someone I pay. I literally paid a sub fee for them to store my crap on their servers and keep it persistent, and they failed. And (as we all keep saying) the worst part isnât even that they lost all our crap, itâs that they waited so long to even acknowledge it, and when they did, were so vague people are still coming back to check in case thereâs still some restorations going on (Iâd bet my pants there arenât), and these people in charge canât even so much as say âWeâre done, too bad for the rest of youâ to confirm it. Nevermind that limp scripted apology the poor CS person was forced to give us.
But, whatever, at least now I know what kind of company this has turned into, and that I should spend my money elsewhere. I just keep checking back in the vain hope things will be made at least acceptable, if not right. (I know, fat chance, right?)
I waited 4 months for Blizzard to restore the items in our guild bank. I opened a ticket a couple of days ago and first received a response that was not relevant at all, telling me to delete files on my local computer and reset my WoW settings. After explaining more slowly and clearly, they sent me to this thread. I do not want to hit the âMark as Resolvedâ button, as this issue is far from resolved. Our guild bank lost every single item from 7 full tabs. These items were not worth what some of you lost. They were still our items and were not meaningless. I am not going to stop playing immediately or make any other empty threats. However, my trust in Blizzard has been damaged and my perception of the value of their games has decreased.
I was just thinking about this last week. I find it totally ironic that weâre âfighting bugsâ in game on an expansion riddled with âbugsâ that weâre fighting in real life.
I am rather amazed. I knew they were looking into it but I just found this thread, which appears that they already did all the fixes they could and thatâs it.
I never got anything in the mail, so I suspect all of that is just gone gone? Lucky for me, 3 tabs of items that are essentially meaningless trophies that arenât very valuable are most of what i lost. the sad thing is, one tab had 12 haunted mementos and 8 or 9 accursed keepsakes, which are each usually 30-90k on AH. I had been consolidating them while figuring out what characters I wanted to main in TWW. Then, the bug. And 100% of those are gone.
After that, I donât put anything valuable in any banks. Now I just worry about another bug like this wiping out inventories. Ugh.
I feel this. Iâve been asking myself this since the event happened initially. Whatâs next? Is anything safe? They really canât fix this?
Now they got another bloody mess on their handsâŚmany players that brought Gillâel battle pet from the Blizzard store that also gives you a Plushie is missing now from the Pet JournalsâŚhow does this bloody crap happen over and over âŚ
Apparently us clicking Accept means we acknowledge and agree that Blizzard can remove anything from the game at anytime, with little to no explanation, and we have to just be ok with it. Ya know, since they own it, and we just pay for a username and password to work, and apparently nothing else, not in-game persistence or quality QA or adequate supportâŚ
A lot of people are also missing Mountain Dew appearances.
Also, thatâs a LOT of new bug posts for just the past two hours.
Oddly enough I still have credit for it as a unique pet and my pet addons read it as existing. They also left the ptr âright click for frame settingsâ on by accident it seems.
