Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

why is no one talking reparations? If they are not even going to trey to restore the items why not quell the rising tide with gold. it cost them nthing

Pretty much the same. I store gold in my guild bank until I hit an amount I’m not comfortable losing and take it out. All my tabs are empty except for garbage I don’t care about or that I use for the DMF. I AH materials immediately now. Every single time I access my guild bank I remember what Blizzard did to all of us and I’m still angry over it. A sincere and heartfelt apology from someone at the top would go a long way but they are still dragging their feet. Shameful.

Do I want reparations? no, not really for me personally. I am not as mad about the lost items as I am at MicroBlizz sweeping it under the rug, the lack of responsibility and accountability.

I do understand some lost tons of items worth lots of gold/money and those people should get something imo. Where you draw the line - I am not sure but honestly that is a MicroBlizz issue to figure out.

I am still in shock and heart broken by Blizzard’s betrayal, I loved WoW and I love my guild with all my heart and soul. As a software company the loss of data is an act of intentional neglect. They could have done better but they chose not to care.

glances over at the calendar

Sure would be nice to get some sort of “followup” Blue-post before the new year…
:watch::watch::watch:

Give people some closure imo with either a clarifying “yes” post (they’re still working on it/more restorations are on the way/stay tuned for the next update/etc) or a clarifying “no” post (nothing further will be done)

Give people some sort of “final answer” so they can move on in 2025 (one way or the other… whether it means unsubbing or staying subbed and trying to rebuild what was lost)

I’ve been disappointed with their treatment of guilds for a long time. The last time they actually got some LOVE was in Cata, where they put in the leveling, achievements and perks / rewards system. But then, removed MANY of the perks. I get that a lot of guilds who were non-guilds took advantage of “Cash Flow” (by using an addon to Spam invite a bunch of people - which pissed me off btw.) but for those of us who put a LOT of effort into leveling our guild, it was heartbreaking to lose things like Bountiful Bags (which helped gatherers, including enchanters, get things to craft things for the guild), bartering, and Have Group Will Travel (which, as a small guild where people didn’t all play the same hours, being able to save even a little bit of time to be able to do SOME group content helped a ton). During early Cata, the guild was truly small, with active members numbering under 10 (usually with only 3 or 4 playing together at a time). Back then, holiday bossed DID count towards guild XP, as did doing quests, so we’d get together and knock out those things. Every level we reached was a celebration. I joked that we wouldn’t get to level 25 till the year 2085, and yet, during Cata, without inviting anyone who didn’t want to stay in the guild, we hit 25. We had a little party in Dalaran, where my guild presented me with a Sandstone drake that one of our officers had made. I was beyond touched. In fact, one of our officers made sure that the guild didn’t hit 25 till I was on, which was a really kind gesture.

Whether guild leaders provide activities and achievements through a lot of planning, coming up with strategies, etc. (for raiding or M+ for example), engage in RP story activities, or like us, just try to provide a home where people can join, do some stuff together with other guildies with similar in-game interests or just do their own thing was being a part of a community, the guilds contributed a LOT to the game. When I read Newcomer chat, I’d see quite a few people ask about how to find and join guilds. People are still interested. Even in the age of PUG-everything, it feels different to do activities with your guildmates.

And there were multiple times that I would have quit (including a few months ago, you all know why . . .) if not for my guild.

And yet, the ONLY thing they’ve done is allow more people to join - cross-faction, cross-server, etc. and actually made our interface WORSE by merging it with Communities (the one thing I DO like is the archived chats, which allow all of us to talk to each other, even if we’re not all on at the same time). It also lets me vicariously join in on the fun when people are doing things together when I can’t be on. And seriously, the cross-everything thing wasn’t really FOR guilds but to serve a smaller, more fractured population (with some going to various Classic servers, for example).

The guild finder/recruitment tool is TERRIBLE. I tried using it for a bit in Cata and I got a few bots (that I reported) and a jerk that I ended up /gkicking. I don’t just invite people - I always like to talk to them a bit first, to find out what they like to do in game, ask about their game history (are they new? have they just returned? etc.) and to tell them a little about our guild. There’s no good way to communicate with those that apply, using the damn tool. The things you can write about the guild or specify about the needs of the guild is stupidly limited.

And now, the whole guild vault thing. I’ve been saying for the past several years “Blizzard hates guilds” though more accurately, I should say “they don’t give a rat’s (butt) about guilds,” and this is a pretty concrete way for them to show it.

A bug occurred in a video game. There is no need for this kind of melodramatics. Its not that big of a deal.

A lot of folks invest a lot of emotion in things like this. It’s quite possible that they’re being quite sincere in their feelings. And although you’re entitled to your opinion on whether this is justified or wise, remember that (to quote the immortal Big Lebowski), “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.”

Bit disingenuous to act like “it’s just a bug” when the bug in question resulted in the deletion of up to 20 years worth of data lost with no restoration, no compensation, and no sincere apology. 4400+ comments and several months later and they still haven’t acknowledged the players asking valid questions. My warlock healthstone not starting cooldown after combat and requiring a relog to fix? That’s “just a bug”. This has larger implications. You know what other data they have? Everyone’s billing details.

Also really funny that these dorks apparently have nothing better to do than troll this thread, like you’ve really been here since the start just to say “nuh uh!!!” and concern troll, what a valid contribution you brought. Wisdom is chasing you, but you are faster indeed.

The forums are so much nicer when you put the trolls on ignore :smile_cat: they have nothing useful to say anyway, just trying to marginalize the issue and make people feel bad for being upset at being robbed of their time.

If anyone needs help putting them on ignore, since some of them keep their profiles hidden, just ask, plenty of us would be happy to help!

I can’t imagine which troll you are talking about but there are only 3 main ones in this thread that suffer from out running wisdom (and I suspect intellect as well) so it would not be difficult to guess. Just throw them on ignore. Once you do, you’ll find the forum just feels better.

They are the ones who scream “jump” at disturbed people standing on the edge of a roof.

Exactly my feelings.

And we’ve gotten to the point now where, although I’d LOVE for guilds to actually get some love, I’m also fearful of it, because every time they’ve implemented something, it’s been rather half hearted and bugged.

I do use the guild finder - not for new members but exclusively so that current members (or those who have just been accepted through an application process) can get an invite. But it is bugged.

Sometimes people will use it and, randomly, it will remove their “application”. If someone gets an invite sent, but then gets a direct invite - they remain in the guild finder as having an outstanding invite. If someone is invited and then ignores the invite … it stays. As far as I can tell, forever. So someone could have an outstanding invite, get kicked from the guild … and then immediately or 6 months later, automatically rejoin the guild.

The fact that we can invite cross faction is great - but they can’t use the guild finder without using a very long-winded workaround.

There’s just too many bugs relating to guilds to go into. And that’s before you start on things that aren’t bugs, but just aren’t really fit for purpose, like the calendar (which, by the way, only allows you to pick LFR or Normal difficulties for the current raid - and when I raised it as a bug, I essentially got slapped down for causing a fuss).

Absolutely right. I mean, they can say what they want but we don’t have to read it. From what I’ve seen, they’ve had nothing helpful to say - nothing comforting, practically helpful, or anything else that could possibly contribute to this conversation, just being disagreeable just to be disagreeable. They apparently have no concern about the matter so I imagine they are only here due to boredom or some need for attention. Best to not give them any.

Oh I already have them on ignore, but given the nature of every single post they’ve made until now, you don’t need to look at their hidden posts to know they’re still acting like a broken record. They’ve been saying the same thing for months.

There was an apology, apparently they didnt do it the way you like. They however still apologized. So some people lost some items in a video game, its not a big deal. The right perspective would really put this in place for some of you. Pixels in a silly game.

I make it a point to never look at a hidden post once I’ve put someone on ignore… The ones with HPD will eventually find a new thread/person/shiny object to annoy. It comes from a place where they don’t like themselves and feel the need to drag others down as well.

There are some people who respond (I get it - it’s tempting, but also futile, as well as encouraging them) and that’s where I see the names of the trolls they responded TO, so yeah, I see that way that they’re still around.

I just find it really funny. It’s one thing to be a naysayer and disagree with someone, but it’s hilariously pathetic to keep repeating the same thing for months on end when clearly, people aren’t interested. Just sad, lonely people desperate for attention. Maybe they think they work for blizzard, idk.

Regardless, since the guild bank heist I’ve been going through my very extensive backlog and playing some new stuff, there’s so many great games out there from companies who don’t treat their customers like garbage.

After reading through a lot of these comments, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone starts talking to lawyers about bringing yet another Class Action lawsuit against Blizzard, since we are talking large amounts of customer’s real-world money being involved.
