That “apology” is on the same lines of “We’re sorry you feel that way” – it is nonsense and not an actual apology.
Yeah, that thread is going so badly.
It’s going to get closed and either 404’d or merged into this one.
Nice that I can post in here now despite my sub being cancelled since it’s in bug reports.
Anyone received any items in the mail the past few weeks? I’m not going to remain subbed and just hope I’ll get my 7 full tabs of stuff, or anything at all, back, when I haven’t gotten a single item up to around a month ago.
I haven’t gotten anything and most of us didn’t either, but someone in GD said a lot of guilds were fully restored. I want to believe it but… yeah.
The first and only time anything was sent out was the evening of September 20th. If you didn’t receive any system mail then, you still won’t even now. (Not that it’s much better than being sent a couple stacks of trivial items.)
When someone trolls threads and makes outrageous unbelievable statements, and their profile is hidden so you can’t see their post history, then you have your answer as to what you should believe from them.
The back and forth trolling is giving me a headache and not making want to argue our cause.
Best of luck to those of us who are impervious to it.
I’m assuming they are still working on getting the items packed up and sent to the guild masters? Or is this a lost cause and blizzard is just saying F you, you lost your stuff and we don’t want to check our logs for what was missing.
Would really like to have my 15+ Wirt’s Leg variants back from the diablo event so I can give them out to friends and guildmates for holiday gifts this year… The rest of the crap I don’t care about, but my limited time items is a harsh loss.
At this point, assume the latter. Blizzard ghosted us for the entire month from when the alarm was raised to when this thread was created, then went back to ghosting affected customers ever since.
I really want to buy game time, even if I can’t afford the expansion, but I’m so terrified to pay and find out that our guild bank, stuffed full of exactly the types of things that have gone missing, is one of the ones affected. I also didn’t get an answer from Blizzard as to whether or not we were affected, which does seem to be something they know because they sent mails to some GMs who didn’t alert them through a bug report. It’s the lack of communication that’s most crushing of all.
I MAY have read of ONE person that said they got everything back (not sure if I read that right) awhile back, but if that . . . that’s it. Many of us have been here since August or September and I can tell you, if it even happened, it’s extremely rare. People got either NOTHING or very little (and usually trivial items).
The stuff I got back was weird. Most of what went missing were mats and recipes. On the bank that had MOST of the things out of my 7 tabs go missing, I got 98 Large Brilliant Shards. That’s it. Now, granted, that’s not THE most trivial stuff I could have gotten back, but out of THOUSANDS of mats (mostly cloth, enchanting, elemental items, various orbs, pearls, spider silks, etc.) and almost 200 recipes, fishing items and bags, I only got a partial stack of one type of mat. Weirdly enough? It’s one of the FEW kinds of mats that I STILL HAD LEFT in the bank after most of the stuff disappeared.
On my herb bank, I didn’t lose QUITE as much stuff . . . estimate betw . . . I don’t even remember - maybe 40 to 60% missing? I got back 66 Siren’s Pollen and 230 Vigil’s Torch. Funny thing is, I already had 359 Siren’s Pollen and 1770 Vigil’s Torch. The ODD part about that is, for practical reasons, I stack my mats in as big of a stack as I can, so if I have over 1000, I will have a 1000 and then a partial stack. Soooo . . . I got back 230 Vigil’s Torch. I had 1770 in the bank. That adds to a nice, round 2000. Did the bug BREAK UP my stack to take only a part of it?? Is that why I’m getting 230 back??
On my Ore/LW/Gem bank, I got 1 tiger’s eye and 7 of some other item. I already had 2 tigers eye and 47 of that other item (I have screenshots of the AFTERMATH of the disaster - the stuff that remained in the bank and the stuff I got in the mail) but don’t remember what the item is called. So while I got very few things back, EVERY SINGLE ITEM I got back were of the kinds of things that HAD REMAINED IN THE BANK AFTER the stuff went missing.
Do data-munchers take partial stacks? Maybe they don’t read “stack” or “items that take up one space” but rather just randomly munch stuff, sometimes full stacks (or however many is taking up one spot in the bank) but sometimes only PART of the stuff taking up one space? Maybe they don’t operate like humans (if they accidentally take stackable things, it will mostly likely be the FULL STACK since when they click on an item in a bank, the whole thing transfers into the bag) and can easily just chew up both full and partial stacks? This is just such a weird detail of the “restoration” that it’s been bugging me. It just feels fishy.
OMG I heard this and I actually YELLED at the screen, “GIVE ME ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!” As a matter of fact, I think I yelled that several times while watching the Warcraft Direct (partially - not yet done watching, so I’m sure I’ll be screaming at my computer monitor some more).
Apparently, something with the bank was BROKEN. I have no idea if it’s actually FIXED.
A LOT of us are still MISSING THINGS. That means it’s VERY, VERY WRONG!! You have NOT made it right. You refused to engage with us for over a month, when you did, you told the CM to be vague and to not give a REAL apology (I mean, nothing that sounds sincere) and then to do pretty much the MINIMUM and still be able to SAY that you did “restoration.” That is NOT making it RIGHT.
And that’s NOT GOOD ENOUGH and I’m DEFINITELY NOT seeing it being MADE BETTER. At all. They move people’s posts around, even move entire threads around to try to keep it being seen by as few people as possible. THIS is making things BETTER? Making it RIGHT? FIXING things???
Maybe Holly Longdale doesn’t know and she’s being made to look like a complete liar by a bunch of her subordinates. Maybe she knows and is spouting empty words. I have no idea. But it’s sad. And frustrating.
I was just talking to my friend about this thread and he just told me that one of the Guest Relations quest (Anniversary Event, Tanaris) requires COLLECTING A BUNCH OF OLD MATS. (OK maybe not a BUNCH of each but probably among stuff that a lot of people lost, and would have been easy to just get on a BANK TOON to grab).
Seriously?? SERIOUSLY???
You mean stuff that many people PROBABLY HAD IN THEIR BANKS???
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL . . . Are they TRYING to rub salt in our wounds? Maybe they are so sick of hearing from us that they JUST WANT US TO QUIT???
I still had most everything in my guild banks that were needed for “Pirate Gastronomy”, though A) I bit the bullet for the Deviate Fish and bought from the AH; and B) I had to fish for Bloodfin Catfish for myself because there’s no way I’m paying five-figures for each one needed.
I had to remind myself that “it could always be worse” and sure enough, there was this hotfix from earlier today that really made me glad I hadn’t done the quest immediately:
Fixed an issue with “Pirate Gastronomy” that caused all quantities of the required ingredients to be removed from your inventory. Now, only the quantities needed for the quest are removed, as expected.
My condolences to those not so fortunate.
I had most, if not all the items in my guild bank. All seven full tabs were completely emptied, down to just one or two items (not even a full stack) per tab. And all they mailed me was some old world cloth and meat I could get back in about two minutes of farming.
Cloth and meat, mind you, I had already put in my guild bank after everything was deleted.
I would have been so excited about MoP classic and player housing and new content, but how I currently feel? Yay I can’t wait to fill my house with cool stuff that blizzard can just randomly delete later without any kind of compensation, just an “oops sorry lol”
My entire bank was emptied except 2 x stacks of 20 goblin gliders.
Not a single thing else was returned.
No emails, nothing.
Just a note to apologize that nothing has been returned because Blizz was busy silencing my account for using the common English vernacular for intergluteal cleft and they did not have time to make everything right.
I do not like the tone and negativity of some of my previous posts. I am just so angry and frustrated with the missing items. But I need to make sure my emotions do not get the better of me.
I want to apologize to the OP, to all of Blizzard staff, and to the readers here for any negative posts I made. I shouldn’t have let my feeling get out of control. If anyone has become upset over something I posted, I regret that.
I am going to take a break from posting about this topic, maybe for a week, possibly longer.
We’re all upset. Its just important to keep focused on what we’re upset about and who we’re upset at. Both the GMs and CS didn’t cause this problem, and its not their fault they’re not allowed to help us anymore, though the dismissive and often inaccurate copy/paste responses are a bummer. The trolls both here and in general forums (and cs trolls with their childish mass reporting move) didn’t cause the problem, and their antagonistic posts are just part of their nature, better to pity them and move past them.
The core of our rage and sorrow lay at the feet of the devs, who pushed the merging of guild data sets without property testing, considering the issues that could obviously arise, and I can only guess refusing to back up the data first. Then after the problems began they kept it quiet, misinformation was spread about items just being invisible, and by the time they “fixed” the problem the damage was incalculable. Finally rather than work to identify which guilds were hit or consider using older backups (not ideal but better than nothing) they decided it best to downplay the problem and vaguely promise restorations before dropping all contact and banishing us here to “The Maw”.
There’s nothing wrong with being upset about being doubly wronged then forgotten. We’re not the ones who caused this issue. We’re just the ones who still care about it, and wish Blizzard still cared enough about quality and gameplay and the customer experience to do something to help.
