Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

I have screenshots of my guild’s bank a week before the bug, literal proof with the information they would need in order to restore what we had in there and I still can’t get anything back from them. I know what we lost. I can give a list and picture proof. I was able to collect and save that information on my own but they can’t do anything. I’ve opened tickets, I’ve reported the bug. If this isn’t a customer service issue then put me through to the IT department.

Well, well, well, what do I have here?

Why it’s an invitation to participate in the Microsoft annual meeting, as a shareholder. With links to the agenda and proposals and various facts.

For example, did you know that Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, earned nearly 80 million dollars this year in his position, with salary and stock and such? (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024) Or that MS now has 20 properties that have earned more than $1 billion in their lifetime? (Candy Crush, Diablo, Warcraft, etc)

Most interestingly to me is that the board of directors is recommending that shareholders vote against the following proposals:

  • Shareholders request that the board issue an independent, third-party report, at reasonable expense and excluding proprietary information, to assess the reputational and financial risks to the company for being identified as a company involved in the development of weapons used by the military.
  • Shareholders request the Board of Directors commission a report assessing the implications of sitting Microsoft cloud datacenters in countries of significant human rights concern, and the Company’s strategies for mitigating these impacts. The report, prepared at reasonable cost and omitting confidential and proprietary information, should be published on the Company’s website within a year of the 2024 shareholders meeting.
  • Shareholders request that Microsoft report on the risks to the Company of providing advanced technology, including artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, to facilitate new oil and gas development and production.
  • Shareholders request the Board issue a report, at reasonable cost, omitting proprietary or legally privileged information, to be published within one year of the Annual Meeting and updated annually thereafter, assessing the risks to the Company’s operations and finances as well as risks to public welfare presented by the company’s role in facilitating misinformation and disinformation disseminated or generated via artificial intelligence, and what steps, if any, the company plans to remediate those harms, and the effectiveness of such efforts.
  • Shareholders request the Company prepare a report, at reasonable cost, omitting proprietary or legally privileged information, to be published within one year of the Annual Meeting and updated annually thereafter, which assesses the risks to the Company’s operations and finances, and to public welfare, presented by the real or potential unethical or improper usage of external data in the development and training of its artificial intelligence offerings; what steps the Company takes to mitigate those risks; and how it measures the effectiveness of such efforts.

And this after they deliberately talk about how they can earn trust in the 2024 Annual Report:

How can we earn trust?

We recognize that trust is earned, not given. And we remain committed to earning trust every day, spanning cybersecurity, trustworthy AI, privacy, and digital safety.

Absolutely wild to me how many opportunities this company as a whole has had to do the right thing and yet don’t want to provide reports (reports! Non-binding reports!) on important subjects like the proposals mentioned above. No wonder we’re not getting our stuff back. This company truly is rotten to the core. I’ll be selling my shares once I’ve voted in opposition to virtually all the recommendations, and once my WoW sub ends this month.

By this point, if you’re still subbed and complaining then you have nothing to complain about as you have accepted what has transpired… The fact that this has been an issue for this long with no resolution should tell you something. It’s not like everything in this game is logged or anything.

You best bet if this was anything in the game that equaled fun, it would be detected and nerfed out of existence over night…

Screenshots have never been proof of anything. It has always been their logs.

Was the GB ok after the first/original deletion situation? D: And then this happened?

This sounds terrible. D: D:

I took my stuff out of my second GB that I had which wasn’t affected. I think an item or 2 may still be in there, I’ll check. I took out my stuff when the first GB got nuked.

That struck me as odd. I have been browsing this thread since it went up and after not seeing much clarification from blizzard tried the bug forum. Like you said, they sent me back here where the general consensus appears to be, “you aren’t getting you stuff back”.

okay! can you prove that you didn’t edit or manipulate those?

that’s not good at all. when did you last check before this? are we talking months ago?

If blizzard will only restore from their logs, cool — my guild bank log shows items deposited and never withdrawn, and those items are clearly missing from the guild bank. I can see the logs without any kind of addon or editing. Can blizzard not see the in-game logs? If so, why can I see their data when they can’t???

It must have been, as I do not remember looking at empty tabs. Given, I rarely play on this char, nor check or use the GB much, it´s just a nostalgic place for me, as it was the first guild I was a member of and we used to meet in RL too. Nobody is left but one other person, so it´s a dead guild with no real Guild Master or activity.

Based on the logs, I took an item out of a tab, which is now empty. This was two months ago as the log shows.
It seems unlikely that this tab only had a single item left and I surely would have noticed the other empty tabs in the process.

The loss is much lower than with my own guild which was full with a collection of 20 years, while this guild here stopped being a guild after WOD when everyone stopped playing. It´s also not fully wiped, just some tabs are now empty.

But still, it seems as whatever they did is not fully working or it´s a new leak happening.

Some time in early September, when I took an item out of it.

What makes it worse is that Blizzard has created an ecosystem based around their gold to currency conversion, that’s how the apologists excuse the super expensive AH mount… but this issue has taken gold and/or items purchased with gold that has real world value, away from players.

Ergo, that means that the items in the vaults that have been lost have real life value, which could potentially hold up in a court of law if one could provide an inventory of items in the vault that were lost.

But they won’t tell you that

Haha,

I would so laugh if the precious dinosaur would just vanish and Blizz would handle it the same way they did handle the GB Heist.

They’ll handle it the same way, as in… sell you a new one!

if one could provide that, one would have done so already and the items would have been restored

They have no real life value, so damages wouldn’t be provable.

Just seen this in my YouTube feed. Funny as hell but I could see it coming. As people unsubscribe do to various issues from bugs or things like this forum topic.

my personal alt guild bank has been emptied as well. all my alt’s stuff, rare pets, tmog, and items that i’ve had banked for 20 years or saved to sell on the AH, etc. all 7 tabs are completely empty.

I have been fighting with tickets concerning this topic for the last couple of months and I truly find it hard to believe that my items are permanently “lost”. This is a video game and there are ways to track everything and if you think you’re gonna tell me that you can’t when much lesser game can do so, I’m gonna call you a liar. I lost irreplaceable items that are no longer obtainable in game or otherwise, unless someone happens to have them. I happened to have them. I had a guild bank full of hundreds of battle pets. I used to wrap my extras and hand them out at Christmas by the tree in Iron Forge. Many might remember me doing this. I can live without ever having the ability to do that again(though it hurts) and I can live without my rare drops and other battle pets. But I want the irreplaceable ones back. And I don’t mean, oh let us reopen the shop so people can buy them, no… then they’re useless… Would defeat the point. I also want to add that, I was denied talking to a supervisor and dismissed multiple times on this subject. I am a veteran player with many years and money invested into this game. Bought the epic version of each expansion and are currently doing yearly subscriptions, which I was never able to do when I started… all of this devoted time and effort to just be shoved aside and told, tough sh…
Now that I told my story on here, that was insisted of me by about 8 different GM’s, what’s next? Nothing I would assume… Hope this helps…
