Isn’t that what they said about our bug?
So it’s just a display/tab permissions issue… lucky them. To me the CS is over-reacting, “look at me, I’m helping!..” whereas we got nothing over here.
That’s exactly what one of the first blue responses to the original bug report said. They even went as far to confirm some items with a poster if I recall.
You should refrain from such statements as “it’s about facts,” then, since all of what you stated was purely your opinion on the matter. This the the place for feedback on this topic. It is the place where everyone has been directed on this topic. As I said before, whether the answer satisfies you or not, that is the truth of the matter.
No this is a void where our feedback has gone to die.
No, that was a misunderstanding. Someone jumped into the thread by asking about the warbank, and that’s what Vrak looked at. They effectively derailed the thread with a different issue.
Ooooh, yeah. Now I remember.
Saw Kurnmogh’s video on youtube.
Restoring the items Blizzard wrongfully took is a just cause. You have my support.
The one thing I really don’t understand is even if not everything can be restored how can they not restore stuff still listed in the bank logs having been deposited but never removed? There’s data they can actually see in the logs so there’s no excuse to not at least restore items in the bank logs.
you have absolutely way of knowing that it’s the same bug.
I just watched a video on YouTube by a player who lost everything in their guild bank. I could hear the sadness in her voice. My heart breaks.
I’d like to know how this could have happened and what steps are being taken to prevent this in the future. I’d also like to know how you plan on making this up to everyone who lost their things.
This is what makes me most angry about this issue, they made the decision not to help us. There’s the log data, but I also believe they have more than one backup of their oracle/sql database. Redundancy is a thing. They just don’t want to do the work. Maybe the formatting conventions of the backup database are different than the current TWW one, using the logs would be complicated, or it’s a hassle for them to identify and restore items, who knows? They decided we as customers aren’t worth the effort.
It seems to have ended up being a permissions bug since 7/8 were added in the patch. The staff there even said that they could see the data in their own logs as well so it does not appear to be a data loss like what happened here.
I think the point was the night and day difference in the response. The quality assurance team jumped on the issue immediately and has been actively communicating with individual guildmasters to investigate and address the issue.
Here it took nearly two months to get a response, that there was a “small technical update” that affected our items. Now its been over another month since then with no word and alot of confusion on if restorations are happening or if that was even the plan.
Is anyone able to explain the different bugs and what they mean to someone with no knowledge of how that works? What is a permissions bug?
I read on Reddit that maybe the database logs may have been cleared after 30 days so that data was lost. But that is apparently not the case?
Tabs 7 and 8 in classic are based on guild reputation, achievements and require voucher purchases. It seems something went strange in viewing due to permissions or that is what people are theorizing since the data still exists.
So very different then the data loss that occurred for people here.
That doesn’t excuse the blinding difference in the responses.
Even if they didn’t know what caused it, they knew IT HAD HAPPENED with our issue and that many people were impacted in really major ways.
In the Bug Forum thread “Guild bank missing items - what happened?” Vaelhaeyn started the thread on August 14, 2024. Linxy started THIS thread on September 22, 2024. MORE than a month after Vael’s first post. That was THE FIRST BLUE POST about this topic in the U.S. forums. At that point, the original Bug Forum thread discussion had gotten about 2500 posts (not all by different people) very frustrated, with a lot of speculation and rumor, with people checking to see if things appeared in their banks after EVERY weekly reset, with many not sure if they could even TOUCH the banks for fear that it could disrupt the restoration process.
People were linking things from the EU forums, texts of their ticket replies, and there were some mix-ups with Warbands bank (understandable, as people were grasping as straws, looking for ANY answer, any clue as to what happened, what they could do, how it would be resolved). To say that the communication (or the lack thereof) was TERRIBLE would be an understatement.
And even AFTER the “explanation,” seriously, it’s not much better. People are still unclear and maybe still hopeful that SOMETHING will still happen. There’s STILL speculations, rumors, hopes, etc.
Even if you can’t explain what happened, just saying “Hey, we realize that there’s an issue and we are looking into it” would have been SOMETHING. Maybe not for long (as people did want answers of some kind) but at least an acknowledgement that there WAS an issue, that Blizzard DID know about it.
They were all over it because they knew it would be an easy fix. I think we got no response because they knew it had already been decided that it wasn’t worth the effort to fix it properly. So we got silence.
Did anyone recognize their playbook? I did.
Blizzard did you do this?
We’ve heard this lie before from Blizzard about this bug here.
