Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

I did collect MS store point throughout the years, you know those you can buy stuff with like games or Xbox live.

At one point I did log into my account of MS and all points were gone. Years of collecting, gone over night. Stuff was worth a few hundred $$$, never got them back or a response by MS.

Has there been a cut back on backup data storage and the people to use it?

How many times has something this serious happened in world of warcraft and wasn’t fixable?

hey, maybe the guilds and players should go to wowhead for the answers/fixes like all WoW customer service points us to in recent years. :stuck_out_tongue:

RIP actual gamemasters and any human who used to work in customer support.

This is what I’ve been saying! If they let us know they’re done, there’d be a lot of anger, but then the thread would end naturally. People would have their closure and wouldn’t post here anymore.

Knowing big corporations, more like they gave him a pat on the back and a $5 gift card to Starbucks.

So among other things in the past few days of back and forth, I asked for a blue post telling us that the matter is closed and that this is it. I stated multiple times that the radio silence was in part what was getting us the most.

Other than being directed to this thread FOUR TIMES, this is the last reply :

Hello Player.
Hilranfel again.

I’ve taken the time to read your request. As mentioned multiple times earlier, this is something we won’t be able to assist with. There is not further line of escalation for this matter.

We thank you for your time and I wish you all the best.

Adding my issue to this thread. (not that I think it matters at this point)

I can confirm, this missing item issue has impacted not only the guild bank but all of the personal character banks on every toon i had on this server.

I originally was not going to post when i noticed my Guild bank tabs looked like a checker board of missing items, with some tabs nearly completely empty. This was a server i played back in Mists. I knew most likely anything that was in the bank was all old mats from my gathering and professions, and its been so long since i played on the server there would be know way to remember, although i do have some old Bag-non addon files that would have it recorded. Items that remained was gear and some misc. Drops, looted gear and odly some inscription crafted items

Today i logged a toon and noticed that reagents seemed to be missing from my Toons personal bank as well. Their bags were also a checker board of empty slots. After checking each toon (6) on this server, 99% of the reagents i had from gathering and crafting are gone. (Ores, herbs, bars, anything i would have made or used for crafting). I have nearly nothing for reagents/crafted reagents in my Guild Bank, personal Banks or Reagents tabs. It was because of this that prompted me to post as the issue is well beyond the Guild Bank.

My main server, on the alliance side with most of my toons seems to be OK and not impacted at all.

Here are some details
Realm: Emerald Dream, Horde
6 characters
Professions on these 6 charachters were all maxed out, through Pandaria. Total professions are 4 herbalists, 1 leather worker, 1 enchanter, 1 tailor, 1 skinner, 2 miners, 1 inscriptionist, and 1 alchamist.
I consildated the reagents from the Guild bank and all personal banks and have left the following
*36 desicrated herbs
*36 snow lily petals
*2 rain poppy petals
*17 fools cap spores
*6 silkweed steams
*46 frost lotus

I did find some various inscription inks, maybe 7 different types with various amounts

I took a break for nearly two years. I skipped DF entirely because i was not happy with the direction of the game. I since came back about a month ago for TWW

I think im already regretting that decision. Not because of just this issue, but some other things with the game as well

The silence from Blizz on this is issue says it all.

That’s a hint, by the way, that they’re close to banning your battle.net account for harassing the GM staff.

Yeah, let’s all be careful with our ticket usage. I know it’s frustrating for us, because the only way we have to communicate with Blizzard is via the forums or tickets. They are not responding on the forums and they’ve made it very clear that the people who answer tickets cannot help in the guild bank issue. No one should have their account actioned against just because we want answers.

Stick to the forums, or social media if you have one. We should also put pressure on people who have popular social media platforms to cover this issue.

Also, we are up to 549 unique users on this thread. We still need more, so talk to friends in game to come post here!

This has been happening since years to me, my most affected characters are from Vanilla and TBC days.

I guess stuff has been disappearing since years, but most people did not notice, as they don´t have such old chars on their account. Maybe it has something to do with items being no longer optainable, so that at one point they just vanish from storage.

This is what I am afraid that has been happening too…
Stuff (a little here and a little there) has been disappearing and I either figured I sold it, was used, etc.

I had a stack of health potions disappear out of my bags while playing a couple weeks ago. I didn’t have it on my bars, so I have to open my bags and right click on it. The next time I opened my bags to do so, it was gone. I thought I had accidently deleted it, but when you drag an item out of your bags to delete it a window pops up that you have to click “yes” on. I thought it was just a weird glitch at the time, but now I wonder if there’s something more.

I just vendoerd some items that Blizz obsoleted, the items turn grey quality that you can sell for a silver or two. I had a quest item also that also turned grey that i had to trash. Blizz had gotten rid of some enchanting mats, but mailed you the replaced version in place of what they removed.

The fact i had 6 maxed gathers and 6 maxed professions, and ended up with nearly no reagents/mats or crafted reagents says this stuff was definitely deleted from my character banks (also to note the massive empty holes in my bags on every toon)

Keep in mind, leveling professions back then you had to level through every expansion to learn the next one

Im starting to wonder if this was on purpose.

What else would explain the aboslute silence from from Blizz, and abysmal attempt at retrieving/reimbursing any lost items. Ive received nothing in the mail.

Ive never known any other company that provides a service to paying customers and to treat them so bad. I mean literally, just ignore you. I dont get it.

For real…

I’m surprised there has been no followup or clarification Blue-post over a month and 3700+ replies later, this thing with “leaving us hanging” with vague/open-ended PR statements and continued silence… but no definitive final answer… is annoying for sure

I really hate hate HATE false hope, it’s a big pet peeve of mine. If they’re not planning to do anything further they should just come out and say so - clarify with either a “yes” or “no”… that’s the bare minimum common courtesy we should get given the gravity of the situation for affected players

Losing 100s and sometimes 1000s of playtime hours of investment is a big deal if you happened to be affected by these post-11.0 bugs

…a simple “yes” or “no” official response, so we at least get some sort of closure one way or the other…

Example of a "yes" Blue-post:

Example of a "no" Blue-post:

Literally only takes like 2-3 sentences for a Blue to provide an update (after consulting with the devs for an update, of course), a simple “yes” or a simple “no”…

We’re waiting…

I’m probably closer, since they slammed my ticket closed and resolved and moved straight to GM satisfaction survey.

This was never really a place of hope. All signs point to this being a place to throw us into and forget about. There’s a reason I keep referring to this thread as the Maw. We’re here to exist in despair and torment until we fizzle out from entropy and disappear.

Perhaps, but at the same time this thread is still stickied and still open to posting 1+ month later…

With no definitive or final “yes” or “no” (such as the examples I posted above) we are still in limbo. We don’t know, it’s possible they still have something up their sleeve… it’s also possible there is nothing on the horizon/no restorations coming (aka false hope)

Could be either one, we don’t know. We just have speculation based on the (vague) original post

Because they’ve forgotten about it. Also you only check the pit to make sure everything in it is dead. If they let us out now we’d be making noise all over the forums again.

I had also been wondering why this thread was still stickied, but yeah, this is probably why.

So basically screw the people that lost stuff because of a bugged patch? Got it!

Still waiting for any reply other than their generic AI useless rant of checking cookies etc) also. I sent in another message to support just so it will keep a record. I did notice they don’t have dates on archived tickets so I started adding that to my submissions.

Thanks for helping keep this alive. I like to believe if we keep it active they will do something. #fingerscrossed. haha
I’ve heard others say they’ve received items in the mail. I put in a tix just after it happened so it’s recorded, but I haven’t received one piece of any inventory in my mailbox.
It really takes the fun out of playing. What’s the purpose of finding great deals on materials if they can disappear and the gold spent on those items isn’t replaced? After all these years, the crafting and AH part is what has often kept me going.

“time is money friend”

Support tickets are not handled by an AI. They utilize templates, however.

That said, there is no ticket appropriate for this situation, it is not a matter a GM can do anything with. You are at best wasting your time and theirs, and at worst repeated tickets on the matter could lead to account action.

That is actually more sincere and shows more effort.

Maybe they can finance the recovery process with the new mount, but it will probably be 100% pocketed by a MS exec.
