I’m sure everyone has xyz macro for this encounter, but there’s one so far I haven’t seen mentioned here or on any guides. It seems a lot of people having trouble with tormenting eyes, and this macro essentially makes them negligible.
It’s a bad habit and youre ultimately setting yourself up for failure. Not just in MT, but the game as a whole. This is why you don’t see it in any guides.
Stick with mouseover macros.
No need to tab target or click. Just moonfire whatever your mouse is pointing at. Simple.
I wouldn’t really apply this macro to other situations besides this? Mouseover is cool until the eye spawns behind something which I’ve seen mentioned multiple times or if it spawns around the plethora of adds in the encounter.
Tormenting eye spawns alert
Press 1 button without even thinking about it or looking for it.
Now you think you’ve killed it. But you didn’t. And it’s forgotten about.
Bad habits.
The eyes behind the pillar are the rare exception and tabbing solves this problem. Adding more keys to your already cluttered action bar that you’re undoubtedly clicking is not good play.
I’m speaking from experience. I used to use all kinds of macros for raiding. I thought they were making my life easier but they did the exact opposite. They served their function, But my dps took a hit.
Once I made the transition to binds and modifiers my game play changed overnight. I look back on old videos and cringe.
You’ve obviously never watched people with focus kick macros.
Seriously, Tical. You seem to only be on these forums to flex your massive ego, which is actually an inferiority complex. You don’t have to disagree with everything that everyone else does.
You mean mouseover kick? Lol.
No need for another macro.
Set a focus and mouse over it.
Seriously…… why are you complicating things?
I don’t get the hostility. I simply explained why it’s a bad idea and how you should fix the problem.
I offered my own experience having done both. I’m not trying to “flex” on anyone. It’s not wise to rely on these types of macros. They will set you up for failure. I mean that.
If you don’t like the advice simply because it came from me well… now youre just cutting off your nose to spite the face.
Tical is right about this. That macro will give you a false sense of security and in the event it is out of immediate range, which it is occasionally, the macro will serve zero purpose. These types of macros I do find hindering.
You however are right here and I disagree with Tical about mouseover being the best all end all. As a high end pvper, focus and party modifiers on spells is something I’m all too familiar with. I use shift and alt as ways to target different people in those scenarios but a button to “focus kick” is way faster than hsijg a mouseover. I don’t spend time moving my mouse all over the place because I don’t click anything (except grounding totem and the like because macros don’t work on those).
In regards to this challenge, I found myself just either tabbing or clicking on them to be honest. Eyes were not an issue for me as much as it appears to be for others it seems.
I’m currently using this as well.
Also one to root the infernal, and one for sunfire on horrors.
I really don’t get the issue of saying ’ don’t use it '.
Some people may have medical issues that they just can’t ’ git gud ', some, like myself, simply arn’t skilled enough to tab target, keybind, all that stuff.
It was an option to help, not a ’ use this or else '.
Don’t want to use it, don’t…want to use it…use it.
Being on the forums the past 2 days reading stuff really shows there is some arrogant toxicity in game.
The vast majority are causal players, not everyone is a gladiator or CE player.
Correct, a video game so let other pick and choose what they want to do.
While you might have had issues with it, someone else may succeed.
Like I said, I use them and they are a huge help. If I fail because of this, I’ll take that chance verse not using them and failing to lack of not being able to target correctly.
Personal feelings have nothing to do with disagreeing, but you’re kind of putting it out there as toxic when you downgrade someone for offering advice that may help someone else and your tone comes off as ’ git gud '.
If you feel this macro will help you by all means go for it. There is a better marco out there, its from the original MT. Which targets Eyes, Varess, and I believe Knull in that Order with Moonfire. It Still works
And I meant every word. That’s still not me telling you to “git gud”.
When I tell my son to stop chewing with his mouth open, am I being toxic then as well?
Come on…. You just don’t take constructive criticism very well.
Binding the same spell on your action bars twice is redundant. It serves no purpose other than to cause confusion. Hesitation and fumbling of keys when you should be doing damage.
Even worse still is if you click said spells.
Multiply that confusion by another %1000. You’re not even looking at your character anymore.
This is a bad habit to get into, and believe me when I tell you. I’m saying this out of experience.
Like flaps said, your giving yourself a false sense of security. The macro will work just fine…. Right up until it doesn’t. It not a matter of “if”. It’s “when”.
It will leave you vulnerable to mistakes. It takes your priority off the eyes, which is exact opposite of what you should be doing. Eyes are not to be neglected with a “set it and forget it” macro. They will ruin your run real fast.
A single spellbind with a mouseover macro is hands down the better option. All your offensive spells should be this way, moon and sunfire especially. Moonfire is castable 360 degrees in any direction meaning you dont even have to move your camera. You don’t have to change your focus. (It remains variss 100% of the time) you just pick them off as you see them, never skipping a beat.
