Guard Spam

With the exception of Goblin cities, guards did not spawn like this in Vanilla when a town was being attacked. This guard spam started in CATA. Classic is supposedly an “authentic” recreation of Vanilla.

Please fix asap.

Well, I remember this happening:

It definitely occurred in vanilla.

Ha! That’s hilarious but definitely not normal. The black bear mount would have been impossible in WRATH if this were a thing. Read the comments, a GM spawned those guards.

This is normal:

Guards were spawned by Civilians in Vanilla. Hate to burst your bubble. If you run thru a town, every Civ you pass will call a guard. They can add up quickly.

Perhaps the cooldown is quicker or the spawn rate faster, but what I’ve witnessed seems perfectly normal.

You haven’t provided any evidence proving that guards spawn at an increased rate.

Yeah we know. We’ve all heard the “Guards help me!” What didn’t happen (until Cata) was a massive and seemingly infinite spam of super guards.

In TBC I wiped out Splintertree Post, by myself. I wiped out Tarren Mill, by myself. I rode through Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Undercity all with just the usual guard aggro.

I killed countless bat handlers and not a single one spawned immediately or drew guards.

This is a bug.

Honestly since so much is bugged I believe the OP at this point. So much has bled through on this Legion client we got so many Retail things happening in Classic.

I almost don’t want to log in anymore till the fix everything. Just feel that it’s that messed up.

Just to update, I’d link a vod but have assaulted towns and cities now plenty of times in the last couple weeks.

Guard spawn rate is absolutely ridiculous, though I am not sure if this is a bug or simply intended as DK’s are not in the game yet to deter people from killing civilians.

No, the rates are pretty normal for 1.12. It was changed to do this at some point during vanilla to prevent 60s from controlling downs and denying people from questing. I want to say it was somewhere around the halfway mark of vanilla.

As someone who regularly started trouble in every little horde town up through WRATH I can tell you it is NOT the same. You can view original vanilla/tbc/wrath vids to confirm. This was changed in CATA. The guard spam is retail, not Vanilla.

Just a few before CATA (accompanied by the usual terrible music):

I think it’s been changed back and forth a bunch of times though over the years. I spent a lot of time doing town raids in vanilla and remember at some point guards spawning like crazy all the time. It’s probably a switch they flip when lots of people are near the level cap or something, which would make sense. They want people to feel open to doing some world pvp when everyone is leveling. They don’t want people feeling open to town camping and denying people from playing the game; at level cap.

I don’t mean this in any antagonistic way at all, but you’re wrong. Guards didn’t pop up like ants from an anthill like this until around/after Cata.

they added the random guard spawn at the end of vanilla when they started ruining the game to cater to normies.

I remember clearly seeing wave of guards spawning when raiding TM in Vanilla. Keep in mind that this might only happen when town is overwhelmed and not when you’re alone attacking one guard at a time…

Bump! This needs attention Blizzard.

Shows guards not spawning randomly out of thin air in original vanilla. I’ve been making threads about this for weeks. It’s broken and needs to be fixed.

This insane guard spam was added in Cata. This is a bleed over from the modern game and people are growing weary of Blizzard refusing to fix bugs like this.

BUT, all of these were taken before the current patch classic is based upon.
