So many folks just needing because they CAN. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
I’ve ran several dungeons the last few days, and it seems like it’s always plate wearers that need on everything that’s up for roll.
Just yesterday, arms warrior needed on a blue dagger over a rogue and won. Today, I rolled on an int trink and the tank rolled need and won (prot pally) I was on my mage.
There was another warrior needing on all of the leather blues from Ankanet (Wrath) and I was like “C’mon bro”, and I all I ever hear back in response is “System is working as intended” and “Game lets me do it, so I do it”. There’s just no common sense or decency anymore with this current loot system in Cata.
I can see why Blizzard moved to Personal Loot, and we need that again, soon. That’s just my opinion, agree or disagree.
That’s a bit of a tough one. Maybe they were rolling on it for a holy set.
On the one hand it’s nice to have priority for items you legit need, but on the other, everyone is entitled to choose for themselves.
We have different versions of the game with different grouping and loot systems. I don’t know that we’re all going to agree on which one(s) are better, but it’s up to us i so visually to choose the sets of trade offs we have prefer for ourselves.
I don’t support removing group loot, but the community is definitely a problem and fully enabled by the nature of anonymous LFD queues.
The new thing I’ve noticed is people just rolling need on everything from the last boss whether or not they can even equip it, because they are no longer vulnerable to a votekick or any other retaliation and they’ll never see anyone in the group again, so why not just ninja anything you can?
off spec rolls should never outweigh main spec rolls. the paladin in this scenario was Prot so should not have been allowed to roll on an int trinket over a mage. at the very least the pally should have asked if anyone needed it first.
There are other versions of the game if that’s a deal breaker for you.
In Cata Classic, you can Vote-to-Kick after the fact. In Era, you can form your own parties and use your own rules, and in Retail you have umm… whatever Retail has.
In any case, I appreciate that you have a preference, and it’s cool that you’re sharing it in a “My opinion should be enforced…” fashion. It’s just not something I personally agree with.
That would have been nice/fairly normal (in some circles/cultures) manners.
It’s a shame though that people always roll off-spec or just because they can at the last boss. After that, the dungeon is already over and there’s no point in vote kicking. Also, (they may have changed it), but I don’t think you can vote kick in combat and someone is always in combat.
For sure this sort of thing happens. I suppose if it’s something you’ve noticed a lot then it would be bothersome. I’ve done quite a few heroics… (4 toons that geared up in pre-bis/rep through heroics), and this sort of looting has been extremely rare to the extent that I genuinely clutch my pearls each time it happens, and gasp!
In some groups it can be very difficult to find a break in combat.
I say remove it, because you’re not going to change the player base overnight, and magically make them more honorable or decent.
Deserter debuff was hardly a thing back then, but a few people made it longer because of the group hostage taking scenarios. Bad eggs spoil every bunch, and this is no different. Unless you can somehow make a lot of the player base have the mindset of “Yes sir, No sir, Yes ma’am, No ma’am, I don’t NEED it so you can have it, thank you, hello”.
The solution will come and it is called personal loot.
It comes later. with new drama.
the dude who got the PL drop, may not need it. But they keep it.
Which is their right. They won it fair and square. they ran the dungeon just like 4 other did.
Now I will tell some how to persuade a trade better. Don’t be a butthat about it. Simple and blunt.
act like a butt hat in the trade request saying “you will give this to me” and even I a usually nice guy…will disenchant right in front of them. I don’t get upset over it. I jsut disenchant.
Megaservers are basically the same, which have been a thing since wotlk. You’d form a group, and never run into the same player again. Scambuster blacklists were a nice way to punish people for ninjaing, but sadly Curseforge took down the addon, so it has a much more limited reach.
i find it funny that when its pvp people cry about ferlina and in pve its ben but this is what happens when you have rdf its random people doing what they wont since they will most likely never see each other agin
