Group finder

Not sure where to post this, as I never post. The reason I stopped playing wow to start with was because of the group finder. The dungeon finder, that I can get as long as it stays on your server. Other than that, it simply ruins the entire reason to play the game.

Friendships are made in the mundane moments and the bonds are built in the accomplishments. Take those away and you loose what makes it special. I still have friendships of 20+ years from those mundane group filling moments and intense moments of overcoming a boss with the same set of people whom I failed with over and over.

I started playing WoW classic purely because I like playing the game and I though I would get to play through the end of WOTLK without it being a real issue. At which time it was my real hope that Blizz had realized that this was one of the killers of the game. Vast majority of the people I have spoken with over the years have some aspect of the group finder as their reason for quitting. It might be created bad groups, people got mean and there is no recourse, community elements disappeared, no reason to stick with guilds unless you are die hard, the idea of overcoming as a team went out the window, etc…

In any case, I really wanted to share, as I assume I will be quitting soon unless the group finder is much better thought out than last time. The only way I can see it working is if the entire thing is one server only, where people are still meeting people they are likely to encounter again and there is accountability within their circles.

Very disappointed because not only is it being introduced (this is literally the only thing in the game I think is awful), but it sounds like the version being introduce is worse than the original.

The group finder they’re adding to TBCC isn’t even as functional as the one in retail. It’s definitely not a queue. It’s just a list of strangers that want to group.

That I can handle. That is reasonable. If that is the case, that makes me feel optimistic.

I think a tool to help us connect is a great idea. What exists in post WOTLK is an awful idea.

I agree with you, LFD added in WotLK (especially with cross server aspect) took away from the community aspect of the game and started allowing people to be super toxic to each other. Thankfully that’s not what’s being added now.

Imagine thinking you are so important to the millions playing that you have to come post a “im taking my ball and going home if Blizz does xxx”

Hilarious honestly…

Not only that, but then complaining about a change that isn’t even happening. They didn’t even research the change before critiquing it.

It’s like lfg message board add on. It’s not wotlk style

The LFG system is the best thing that happened to wow and it’s not the reason why retail sucks…

you nerds have no idea what you’re talking about…

LFD is not being introduced. This is the LFG tool, its live right now, there is no automatic grouping.

I agree with you that LFD is trash and kills 5 man content. No worries here though man, that’s not what’s being added.

Instead of writing up this wall of text, you could have spent half that time reading and discovered that it’s not the same system you’re talking about.

Imagine thinking you can never bring up a topic and have people listen to your concerns. In fact the only way to get people to listen is to mock them and think that might help.

Hilarious honestly

There is a different way to do life, Jax.

I don’t even think half the people know what they are complaining about when they are doing it.

The issue with the LFG tool that everyone keeps saying was the doom of social interaction has almost nothing to do with the tool itself. The issue came from when they connected realms in the same battle group near the end of WotLK. Do you know why they did that?! It’s cause the LFG tool originally only formed a group with people on the same server, then people complained about a 1-2 hour Q time because they couldn’t find a tank, thus blizzard added everyone in the same battlegroup into the LFG tool.

That, in turn, led to quicker than average dungeon spams where you said nothing to anybody and your personal reputation meant nothing because there was a 99% chance that the other 4 people in your group were not even from your server.

If you wanna argue that spamming “LFG Dungon XXXX” was the height of social interaction before LFG tool…your dense. I still join 5 mans and barely 1 word is said…and that is without the LFG tool.

Friendships will be made in any game if its mutually on the table for both players.
