Grobbulus Transfers don’t make sense

Grobbulus not allowing Transfer but you can create new characters if you have characters on there doesn’t make any sense? Wouldn’t transferring a character and creating a new character have the same effect on the population? I have been trying to get my day 1 warlock there for months so this doesn’t make any sense to me. If you can create a character, they should allow transfers as well. If you are worried about the population, make a small window where this is possible to allow players the one time opportunity to move realms and then lock them again if you deem it necessary.

No; new character and transfers don’t have the same effect. Simply because people are lazy to level and most people don’t want to start from scratch like yourself. So letting new toons has way way less effect on the overall population that opening up transfer.

Small window? like 6 hours of transfer that allows 500 ppl in? that’s more like smuggling people in than a fair and transparent transfer policy.

On conclusion, because of multiple bad decisions made about transfer during classic, the server population and balance is in a very bad shape. Unfortunately I don’t see any ideal an democratic way to resolve this issue at this point.

But wouldn’t the new character creation inflate the population numbers, since like you said people are lazy to level so you have a lot of toons sitting at 1-20?

If you open transfers, then a flood of new people comes in. If you allow new characters, but not transfers, then only a handful of new people come in.

The reasoning I have heard is that making a toon on grobb while having toons on another server splits your presence between the two, reducing crowding; whereas if you took all your toons there you would only play grobb, still only taking up 1 spot but having that spot spend much more time online

just open the transfers to grobb for a few hours, let the selected few that are really interested in playing there and not following the mob actually transfer there.

I agree, doesn’t have to be a long window, just enough to let those truly interested the chance to move

Keep Grobbulus locked! I don’t want our faction balance getting messed up.

yes it does make sense. you can only create a new character if you already have one on the server.

the amount of people playing does not increase. one player can have a million characters but it is still only one player. The amount of people playing does not change.

it was unbalanced and people transferred to make it balanced. So your concern is ridiculous.

But would that be the same if you can only transfer if you have characters on there already?

yes it would be the same. if you already have characters on the server and are allowed to create new characters. then they are not allowing you to transfer for that reason. They must be doing it for another reason. dont know what it is but it is definitely not to keep the player count down. maybe they are trying to keep the player count high on the server u want to transfer from?

I highly doubt opening transfers would effect the population enough where you would even see a difference. What it would do is allow those left out to finally play with their friends

No dude, if they open of transfer to Grobb majority of people on Eranikus and Sulfuras will will be in there in less than a few days. That won’t only kill those 2 realms but it will also destroy the only remaining sort of balanced NA PVP realm we have.

Don’t get me wrong I am stuck on Eranikus and I’d loved to be on Grobb, but I am not selfish enough to ask for something that benefits me in short term but destroys a whole good realm.

So the player on other realms are just left to suffer and not play where they would like? 1) I highly doubt it would have that much impact, based on what we are seeing when they do open transfers 2) it’s not selfish to want to play with your friends and suggesting a solution 3)transferring must not be that important to you, which is why I think you are over estimating the amount of players that would actually go through with the transfer

There is no need to speculate on what would happen. It already happened when we had everyone pile on to 3 servers and had massive queues. Or just look at EU where they unlocked transfers between 2 servers (firemaw and gehennas) amd already had to close gehennas transfers because too many people were moving there (and that is only from one other server).

But transfers isn’t what fixed the queues. I just think it’s unfair to keep those who want to move locked out. Let’s find a different solution for the queues, which we haven’t seen since launch, and I think if they survived Ulduar launch, they should survive some transfers too

Yeah i have a day 1 orc shaman id like to get onto grobb also :frowning:
