Clearly not often enough lol. Gp>> cb any day of the week. I explained pretty clearly why. Also while your kicked you can stand there and look pretty while a fire mage spam poly’s your healer.

Sounds like a quality of opponent. Definitely need to play vs yourself more and see what’s better, cb or gp.

The only people that kick fire on a destro are sub 1500 players.

There was a screen shot of a 104k chaos bolt, as we don’t have 300k+ health yet chaos bolt can be scary.

100% it’s terrifying. Way more than 30% damage. Once every 3 minutes. If kicked locks all schools of magic. Takes a ton if build up. Costs shards.

Gp= broken
110k cb = bad design but somewhat balanced by garbage mobility, cost and defensives.

What do you think randoms are full of. Both can be deadly if left to freecast. Shards aren’t hard to get btw. A 110 cb just means they stacked tons of mastery instead of haste.

For sure, there should be a cd use or ramp up like every other class that can do 1 shots.

That or they could make it also damage the user!!

This whole stand still and press greater when ever you can is disgusting.

Aye most casters are deadly when free casting. That’s not really the point? The counter play to gp is basically non existent.

Big CBS happen every 3 min. Takes ramp up and shards and locks you from all schools of magic.

Kick gp into a sheep or frost Nova. Recast gp because no ramp up or cost and it’s spammable. Then proceed to spam your instants till dead.

I think you basically see threads as places to go argue against people. Gp is bad design and broken in every sense.

Naw just remove it. They have enough instant burst damage. They should just buff scorch and fireball a bit to reward casting on the move. I used to love fire in wod. Mobile casting was the bomb. And would also be unique.

GP is broken then you vote for more dmg from casts on the go and instant dmg? Your priorities are backwards. Also it’s not just the infernal that makes big CB damage.

Lol I never said that. I said that I want scorch to have more damage? Move and casting is way more fun (instants are toxic)

I also never said infernal was the only thing in big CBS. Rain of fire and all that.

Fire mages are dangerous for sure.

Usually I’ll kick/interrupt the first cast.

If they start casting another one I’ll just run away or try to out-range them. I generally stay away from/avoid Fire mages, I just don’t mess with them for all the reasons outlined in this thread.

With the other less scary casters like Ele Sham, SPriest, Destro Lock, Aff Lock, Frost Mage, you can just go head to head with them… but not Fire Mage.

Casting on the go is ridiculous and should not be vouched for. Would need some kind of cd. And ya you said big cbs are every 3 minutes. It’s basically just stack mastery. I have half the mastery of the player who did 100k cbs and they average 20-40 k and big bolts are around anywhere from 30-50

God I’m happy you’re not in charge of class design. Casting on the go a few spells feels great. Scorch on the go (lb for ele back in the day) was fun. Repeated instant blasts into pyros with metoer is a way bigger issue. Other stuff is the same. Instant sp silence or horrify. Casting a few spells on the move>>instants and >>gp all day long (mostly because gp has zero counterplay as described).

You realize 20k is a tickle and 30-50 (50, your top end is still only 30% health of top end gear) is still pretty bleh considering you get locked on all schools and costs shards to use.

110k bolts. Actual threats. Once every 3 minutes. The guy needed a ton of shards and 3 rain of fires with infernal. Not easy to set up and super easy to line. Every 3 minutes. I play mls with friends for giggles.

It’s mastery that causes large numbers but then you have low haste and long casts.

here’s an idea…interrupt the GP and focus that glass cannon till he is dead or running away. /shrug

that said, yeah spammable GP is annoying as hell lol

He is only 350ish ilvl. When he hits a high ilvl they are seeing more than 50k. What he sees only matters against somone with his same hp.

This is true… with scaling, numbers you see aren’t always what they actually are to the other player.

I can only speak from a Rated Battleground perspective, since I don’t play arena and I’ve played at the highest level in RBGs for 12+ seasons. Multiple mages on one team isn’t viable because of one class: Demon Hunters.

Good DHs can easily stop almost every Gpyro cast by themself.

  • Kick
  • Fel Eruption
  • AoE Stun
  • Darkness
  • Netherwalk is an option, although I don’t think it’s taken very often

After that you just rotate. Of course mages are going to seem broken in random BGs where you don’t have coordinated DPS to stop the casts or healers that know what they are doing, but that doesn’t make something OP because it’s good against the most casual of playerbases.

In RBGs, GPyro is definitely not weak, and it shines more than it should right now because of the 4 Heal Meta. You need the Gpyro chunks to land kills. If 3 healing was the meta that would be an extra DPS to stop your Gpyros.
