Great Vault Rewards Update - March 15

The only thing of note here is sockets. By the time most players roll up to the point they dont need to take a gear piece, rep, crafting items, etc are likely to be mostly obsolete - especially at the amounts they are providing. Choice is nice, but in this case it would be nice to see genesis motes purchaseable for cyphers - and vice versa. As well as a second way to obtain sockets.

Can we please get an option for sockets that doesn’t rely on the weekly reset exclusively?

Make it cost a good amount of cosmic flux or something.

I dont understand the complaints about socket coming from the people who will complain in 2 months theres nothing to take from the vault.

Greeedy min maxers who want to socket every piece they get every week.

They were not gonna give sockets.
For Casual this is a better alternative than grinds, since we are doing +2/LFR/rbg anyway.

please note that I miss the old socket gear, with socket bonus and colors with 2-3 socket per gear, in all slot. ( what are JC even doing now?)

Arguably you are going to want to grind more and feel forced to do the 8 dungeons now because it’s the only way to get sockets, when normally someone like me would only go for 1 or 4 chests because there isn’t another source of sockets.

Really glad to see the sockets coming back and this is a great way to implement them.

What’s surprising? We can earn sockets when Vault would start to become irrelevant. Filling Vault maintains its use longer into the season while also not requiring us to complete some kind of Korthia grind. I see it as win-win - you do less “not fun” things and you do more fun things. How can that be anything but a win?

Great change! be nice if you added an item that upgraded conduits as well, please.

yayyy thank you.

More sockets! Sockets on everything! Sockets on the sockets! Also, bring back meta gems!

So there’s still no protection for leggo slots, no exclusion of one slot per week, (ensuring you don’t get an item you have BiS already), you REDUCED the tokens you get for one slot from 3 to 2.

If you do one mythic per week it would take 3 weeks to get one socket. And no protection to not get another item for that socketed item.

This gearing system is total trash and I hate it. You’ll now be simming an extra gem slot vs taking a piece that may be a slight upgrade. Why are we now making decisions on an extra gem vs gear in a binary decision? What a mess.

It’s the best version of a weekly loot-box we ever had. I don’t know what to say.

If the piece is a better upgrade take it now and socket it later… sorry you need a bot to tell you how to gear.

i didn’t see anything to indicate this is going away next month. did i just miss it? (i sometimes do)

i will not be doing any such thing. if you see an upgrade, take the upgrade.

this isn’t intended to get you full sockets by the end of week 6. it’s intended to be a consolation prize for people who are just vault fishing for tiny upgrades 5 or 6 months into the season. are there really tons of people who were still getting upgrades out of the vault every week at the end of season 2?

Every person who even cares about their damage is laughing at this right now. lol.

You have to sim everything in WoW. In fact, most of us non-baddies have been simming stuff from the beginning.

I’m not taking a not optimal side grade over a socket to put in my already BiS ring.

If you could get that socket somewhere else that didn’t directly conflict with gear, then I would take that sidegrade and extra 37 DPS and get the socket elsewhere.

It’s plain awful.

And none of you seem to address the first part of my post, in that the vault is a terrible solution to gearing in general.

This patch is intended to last a year.

I see this as a mechanism to reward players for continuing to play the fun parts of the game later in the season.

People begging for Korthia style sockets are missing the point - this change isn’t intended to give you sockets, this change is intended to provide a meaningful long-tail reward for continuing to play the game.

i don’t think most of us disagree with you, but posting about it here isn’t going to get anything changed in 9.2.whatever.

While I do disagree with Blizzards war on “sockets” in general, I understand their point on the socket upgrades. These were intended to be something you did as the final upgrade when you finally got that BIS item. Not something you just slap upon every slight upgrade you get, like we did in 9.1.5.

It’s a nerf to jewelcrafting. I don’t get why people who fill up there vaults get more chances at sockets >.> its so annoying.

Well I see it as more of a nerf to everyone, as having sockets like we did back in the day meant there was more flexibility for us to customize the gear with the secondary stats we needed for our build and not the ones they just assumed we wanted. And it makes sense that they get more currency, after all they put in more effort towards the great vault rewards to begin with.

It rewards people who frequently fill vault. I think there should be other ways to socket gear. It also hurts jcs a bit too since it’s inconsistent between seasons.

Was wondering if you would be getting sockets elsewhere as well
