You don’t need more women or minorities in a company, you hire the best people who are most qualified for the job. Whether they’re men, women or minorities should be immaterial.
Hiring people just because they’re women or minorities and not because they’re the best qualified is nothing more than institutional sexism and racism. If there’s proof qualified women or minorities are being barred from positions because of their race or gender that’s one thing and it should not be tolerated, but if you’re just hiring unqualified people to fill some diversity quota then you’re discriminating just as badly.

We are assuming that when the dude moves to America they are educated and stuff lol. Obviously you wouldn’t hire some tribal dude to be an engineer, but an engineer that has that tribal experience in their background could provide a benefit to a team of engineers that does not.
Diversity is a factor in problem solving and critical thinking as a group, but it is not the ONLY factor, nor is it the most important factor. Education, experience, and talent are all more important factors. All I’m saying is in a world where all else is equal (or close to equal), diversity can be the deciding factor.
For example, you aren’t going to hire the diverse guy that doesn’t even have a degree in engineering to fill out your team, but it might be worth hiring a diverse guy that has the same degree albeit with a slightly lower GPA.
Why are you guys even entertaining this guy? He’s clearly someone’s alt, and just trying to up his post count. It’s not even amusing at this point.
No, but the toxicity is spreading.
People all over parroting the US with accusations of racism where race/ethnicity doesn’t even apply in the given context. Its just sad.
Spanish is HUGE though, especially here in places like Nebraska where it is the fastest growing population.
What would be ironic would be if they hired you, then you were paged over to speak to some “Spanish Only” contractors and you said:
“Whoa, I don’t speak Spanish! How racist of you!”
I do speak Spanish though and I actually taught at Lexington Nebraska which has a lot of hispanics. With that said they NEVER asked me to speak Spanish. If they did why would I think that is racist?
