I love the concept of “Titan rune” dungeons. Especially with new harder hard modes at each raid tier release. Keen to hear what others think of the idea?
Sounds like an excellent way to keep dungeon content relevant. One of the things I hated in the OG was the need to run daily dungeons that were three or four tiers below everyone’s gear level in difficulty. It got super boring. This will actually make them engaging as each tier releases again.
Depends. I could see people running alts through 5 man hard modes to get grim toll or Betrayer of Humanity or such. It’s a bridge into the next tier of raids. Assuming that groups will set high ilvl restrictions on ulduar raid groups this might be a good option
uldar weapons will be better. do not get me wrong people will still do it but i do not think its gonna have the outcome they are hoping for and the majority playing them.
Sure, once you get into Ulduar. Getting into an ulduar raid with preraid bis ain’t going to happen. So, alts either need to find 25 people to raid t7 or do Titan rune dungeons.
Also for people who don’t get to raid alot this will be nicce. Also you don’t have as many people to fight with for loot in a 5 man dungeon compared to a 10 or 25 man dungeon.
we don’t know this dev’s said them selfs they thought heroics was gonna be harder before it released and now we are here. the community is alot smarter now moving out of the fire once is not the biggest obstacle like it used to be just saying.
this is a very valid point which is why i don’t object to it at all just that it wont be that important i don’t think. heroics are good raid training so more mechanics here the better i say lol
Shame Mispeled our resident armchair server engineer didn’t hop on to flame them in a voice call for the totally expandable servers. I was genuinely hoping to see it happen so I could watch actual industry experts’ reactions to that in real time.
I’m actually going to check out the PTR! I know that some people don’t like this idea, but guess what?
I think that the WoW Classic development team is moving in a direction where they are taking some chances to create more interesting/challenging experiences, while at the same time attempting to avoid some of the types of changes that have lead to a hollow feel, community-wise, in Retail.
No idea why you’d think this. People ran ToC 5-mans and ICC 5-mans specifically for the loot all the time when they were gearing up alts or coming late to the party. On top of that, they’re going to award the very badges people are after anyway. I don’t know what makes you think we won’t be compelled to do this content when it will offer better rewards than the daily heroic in every way.
Those didn’t exist in Ulduar phase. So… I guess your point isn’t entirely moot, but at the same time, I don’t see why you’re bringing this up when the current focus is how this will work during Ulduar phase.
Couldn’t agree more with this. I was already interested in playing Cata Classic once that came, but stuff like this gives me even more hope for Classic’s future. Not only have they been striving to undo the mistakes Blizzard made the first time around, now they’re actively developing new stuff for Wrath without overreaching. Anyone who was interested or on the fence about playing Classic long-term should be quite happy about the direction they’re taking this, I think.
The real solution was to just make 10 and 25 drop the same ilevel loot. They changed every other thing about the game anyway–why not change that too?
Can’t really sugar coat it. The people working on this game today are just stupid, and the game would have never have been good in the first place if they had been the original team working on it. Literally every decision they make in every facet of the game is wrong.
Making the loot drops the same for both is a dumb idea. 25s were meant to be harder and thus require better gear and give better loot. To have both drop the same quality effectively makes having both tier systems pointless. It bad enough that current 10s give same ilvl gear as heroics but with higher stats. Whati s more appropriate is to give a better ilvl rating to each piece of equipment. Other wise is pretty close to the random mess of stat values and properties of random gear drops like in vanilla. The original set up was just fine imo all these changes made things more complicated than they need to be.
The actual conclusion they reached in the real game was that it was stupid to make loot better with more players, and the point of this classic dungeon change is to apply lessons learned, and yet they blow it. No, dropping the same for both is not a dumb idea. Splitting up guild compositions and having A and B teams was the dumb idea. Raiding should have always been flexible and people shouldn’t have to be benched because of some asinine and arbitrary changing of gear quality once you start playing with a magic number of people.
And the fact that they make all these massive changes to the game and yet don’t make raid lockouts work like the real game (where you can kill the last boss of a raid and still go back in later and help other people and get loot off earlier bosses) reveals the real intention of every stupid classic change: to waste as much of your time as possible so you pay a subscription longer.
