You paid real money for the mount, nobody’s impressed.
As someone that signed up for annual pass pretty quickly for that, i ain’t even mad.
As per usual FOMO is a bad policy and it should feel bad.
They need to do more and bring back older stuff that’s long since been removed as well.
we might see stuff from the trading post that was removed
In game shop mount now.
I see your point.
For a limited time…so get it now…doesnt actually say it wont be offered again…just that in the here and now, time is limited.
VERY deceptive advertising, however, given the accepted use of ‘for a limited time’ in nearly any other context.
But can’t you still buy “The Spoils of War” and still get the mount?
Except for many instances where that’s not the case. Like annual Events and as people pointed out food specials at restaurants, fastfood.
Filling the blanks in your own head doesn’t mean it’s their fault.
And even if they did say never again and they sold it again… Okay.
This isn’t a physical collector’s item… It has no real world value because it’s digital only
If the store said that they’re playing a Christmas song for a limited time only (which all you guys love leaving out that part) and they said they will stop playing it on a certain date (the date is another part you guys love leaving out to fit your narrative), then they go on to say the song is exclusive to this time frame, then yeah it means they’re never playing it again.
I’m pretty much done talking with people that want to redefine what “limited time only” and “exclusive” mean, especially when it’s not even the main point I’m making, just part of it.
I signed up for the annual pass because I was told that was going to be the only way to get this mount. Matter of fact, back in 2017 when they accidentally let people buy it from the Taiwan shop and put it on their US account, they removed it from those people and pretty much said “sorry can’t have this unless you’re an original participant of the annual pass.”
I’m not upset that other people now have “meh excloosives”, I’m now wondering if there is a point to participating in their promotions ever again. Like I said over and over, I don’t buy larges chunks of subs. I only sub for a month at a time in case I want to take a break, which I have done for every expac. I only signed up because they said this would be the only way to get this mount. If they would have told us upfront that they were going to let us get it without doing the annual pass, I would have waited. Granted, I wouldn’t have expected to wait 11 years
My concern is will I see Blizzcon rewards on the shop/trading post? Will I see hulk murloc and the beetle on the shop/trading post? Before Tuesday I would have said “haha not a chance” but now I’m not so sure. I was going to buy the epic edition of Wrath during this sale but now I’m thinking “nah, I’ll just wait until that kite mount is a stand alone sale.” Is this what Blizzard wants? For people to go “keep your promotion, I don’t trust you anymore, procrastinators always win.” That feels very counterproductive, which is why I’m giving my feedback.
So, my question is: when you got yours, did you get it because you liked the look of it, or because it was shown as only available for a limited time?
If the former, then I don’t see your problem. If the latter, then its FOMO which is entirely your issue. I would never get something because it was a limited time offer, that is me responding to a merchandising hook and I don’t do that sort of thing, just on principle.
Both. I’m a mount collector.
Well that’s what happens when you don’t read past the OP. Can’t help you there.
You could just scroll one post up from yours and that probably would have answered any questions you had. You don’t even have to read all 572.
OK, I did that and yes, I do appreciate that you feel you were, to a degree, gipped.
I have never paid for more than a couple of months’ sub, never a 6 month and certainly never a year. A lot can happen in a year and I prefer to have the option of paying for some of my sub via gold when I have that option. So I appreciate that you say you also dont generally take out large sub numbers and did it on this occasion because it had the added benefit of the mount.
Do you have a reason to feel unhappy? Probably. However, I don’t believe Blizzard lied to you on that occasion - they said the mount was obtainable with that sub number, they didnt promise it would never be available again. Not that I could see anywhere, that is. The only time I can recall seeing a mount available outside the game that was shown to never be available again was the motorbike one that was part of a external poll and was apparently limited by some sort of US law.
They have done similar things before. I purchased the MoP collectors box edition that had the mount included, which I assumed was a one-time only item due it being part of a collectors purchase. And then recently it was made available to purchase, which made me feel a bit disappointed. But then, they never made any promises about that either.
Nowadays I tend to think that Blizzard will do almost anything they can to make money above subscriptions, and so any mention of limited availability should be taken with a large pinch of cautious disbelief.
Tbh I won’t be buying Blizzcon virtual tickets anymore because I know the Blizzcon cosmetics will eventually show up on the store again at a cheaper price, or they’ll be in the Trading Post for free.
I’m not complaining, it saves me money in the future.
If it was a skill-based mount i’d agree but in this case, all you had to do was swipe your card.
I can’t be bothered by this.
You will, and you know it. Because, when it comes down to it, you had it for 5+ years prior to now, which is the whole point. For some reason, everyone just pretends like temporality is not a part of the conversation at all, when it is absolutely a large part.
Who knows what the heck will be happening with WoW in another 5 or 10 years?
The less fomo, “limited supply get it now” type garbage they try, the better for the game. Items should be desirable for their own sake, not due to forced scarcity.
And, as such, you will continue to collect mounts, because as if you are suddenly going to stop now.
Who do you guys think you are kidding? Nobody who has 5432543 mounts already is going to not get their 5432544th out of some form of protest.
the flying mount sales and twitches are insulting, since we cannot use them in the xpac…
they’re either laughing at us…or…afraid that if they offered a path to traditional flight,
no one would use their dragon gliders…
i humbly suggest a path to traditional flight…
dragon gliders are faster…but their start/stop/start/stop gathering utility is weak…both options would be sensible.
I bought Blizzcon cosmetics because I thought they looked cool like the murky pets. That’s all. If everyone wants to use the Wendigo Woolies transmog then so be it. I don’t care about the rarity of store items. Store cosmetics don’t mean anything in terms of prestige anyways.
I’m happy I’ll be able to save some money from now on if I am a little patient and wait for future Blizzcon cosmetics to arrive on the Trading Post. It’s whatever.
blizzCON…is that still a thing?
It’s coming back in 2023, so it’s safe to say that new Blizzcon cosmetics will be made for 2023.
