Realized this since I got the AP all the way back in Cata and how D3 was a mess. Corpos will do anything for a buck. Best to be patient and get the same thing for a better deal.
Most people I know who collect stuff do so either for the enjoyment of it or because they think said thing will increase in value over time. It’s why I got a bunch of hockey cards sitting around.
A virtual mount that you can’t sell wont increase in value, though. Buying into it was only ever there for the enjoyment one gets out of having that mount.
Or in my case because I was going to be playing WoW for that time anyway so hey, “free” mount.
Pumpkin spice lattes are limited time only. They’re available for a limited time every year. That still fits the definition of limited time only because I can’t buy one in April if I wanted to, just in the fall. It’s fine to have another window to get something that was previously available for a limited time.
Good. Do this everywhere and now you’re on to one of the secrets companies use to make you buy stuff.
Next lesson, brand-name medicine…
No, but really, life lesson learned, yeah? These are standard business practices from video games, to fast food, to movie releases and sales, to whatever. It’s omnipresent in society.
“For a limited time get $0 down and 0% financing on your new Honda!”
(Repeated five times a year)
“Available for a limited time, then this Disney Classic is going ‘Back in the Vault!’”
(Release same movie 14 subsequent times.)
Etc.
Fear of Missing Out is an actual psychological condition connected strongly to anxiety. One might consider that if they find themselves drawn to spend money on things that are “going away soon.”
Not to split hairs, but the offer was for a limited time only, and it was available for a limited time. If you got it then, you received it exactly as it was offered during that timespan. A limited time offer limits your time to be able to accept it, not the future availability of what’s being offered.
Here’s my opinion on the matter, as someone who has the charger.
If they’re going to bring some things back like this, this means they can bring everything back. They no longer have any value to their word when it comes to FOMO items.
It’s time to bring back the mage tower appearances and legendary pandaria cloaks.
The charger mount is going away again next month if anyone had bothered to read the article on wowhead about the sale it clearly said the mount isn’t here forever.
Blizzard has had a pretty good (but not perfect) track record to keeping their word on this kind of stuff. They had my trust until today.
And everyone in this thread doesn’t seem to be getting it. They’re just assuming I’m mad someone has “my mount”, which is wrong and stupid. I don’t care how many people participated in the annual pass and got the exact same mount I have.
What I’m irritated about is them telling me one thing then doing another. They did it to get people to participate. If I can expect to see stuff like this mount or maybe Blizzcon digital rewards popping up around Christmas or on the trading post, I won’t buy do it anymore. I’ll just wait.
