Tovi…this is a extreme position to take. This is years later, and at least wasn’t a skill thing needed to get. I am pretty glad to see them bring promotional stuff that took no effort by people to get back.
As far as “promotion only stuff” I think after 5+ years it is ok to bring it in someway. Honestly I would have preferred via the new vendor thing coming in the .5 patch than the store though

The funny thing is that the mount isnt staying, so anyone not buying it before jan 3 due to whatever reason is going to miss out for what could be another 10 years

Its the same with the twitch tcg. That was literally a fomo promotion, as is this charger

Just easy money for a business.
A calendar with set item rotation would be nice for both store and trading post

I got mine from the Annual Pass and I don’t care that it in the shop. :woman_shrugging:

Alright stalker. 🫡

See you’re getting it now. The offer of commit to stay subbed for 12 months and receive these rewards was only good for a limited time. Nowhere did it say the rewards would never be offered again, just the deal. Awesome we’re all coming around now.

Right at the time the mount was exclusive to that offer but again, it never said the mount would not return. No fraud there at all but hey if you think it’s a win, go for it.

The money grubbing has begun!
plays Mortal Kombat theme

Instead of putting old mounts and things in the shop they should time the time and effort to add new things to game. I still say they would make a killing putting Diablo themed transmogs on the shop. Even a few OW transmogs would fit well in WoW.

Okay, so - I think you misread what they said on the post.

For a limited time only, players who make a 12-month subscription commitment to World of Warcraft through the WoW Annual Pass will receive the following epic rewards... (...)

It says that, for some time, players that do X gain Z.

It doesn’t say that Z is limited. It doesn’t say that you won’t ever get a chance to get Z.

It says that, for a limited time, players that a specific thing X, get a bonus thing Z.

That’s very much true. You can’t do that specific thing X anymore and get thing Z. That offer is over.

The talk would be different if it said “limited-time rewards”. But it doesn’t say that.

So it boils down that you misread the post blizz did.

You’re correct that the wording was clear. It just doesn’t mean what you think it does.

This really isnt a 513 post topic.

You dont own anything in the game. Ergo, the people who do own it, are free to do whatever they want, when they want.

You dont have any rights here.

It’s more like they’re a company with a legal department. That means they do their homework so they don’t ever run into actual legal issues like that so it’ll (almost assuredly) never happen. It’s not that they can do whatever they want, but that whatever they do has already faced intense scrutiny from their legal team so by the time it reaches us it’s already been given the green light.

Thats a very long way of saying what i said.

Their TOS is going to be bullet proof. And you can bet your bottom most dollar that an non-issue like this will never see a judgement on your behalf.

I think the phrase “company isnt your friend” is a bit overused, but its true, and in this case save a little of your precious dignity by not whining at them like theyre a parent who pulled the promised ice cream.

The mount, indeed all mounts, are their property, not yours. You agreed that this was so when you installed and when you log in.

Blizzard can delete mounts out of your inventory and teleport your avatar to a featureless room if they want.

You pay to access servers. You have access.

Thats the actual final word. The bottom line. The buck stops there.

Fin.

Not sure what the in-game ToS has to do with what they can or can’t do for promotions, but, uh, ok. They’re two separate things.

Ironic you typed all that up after calling me out on giving a long answer.

I mean you could try suing.

No guarantee it would work but you can try.

I don’t care if a mount you had to pay for becomes obtainable again for payment, personally.

Contracts do not have statutes of limitations

You’re normally pretty level-headed, but on this one you’re wrong.

As I read it:

Blizz: “For a limited time, if you purchase D3 you get this mount. But some time from now, you may not even need to purchase D3.”

Player: “Oh sweet! I don’t really like Diablo, so I’ll just wait and get it without the game. What are we talking like a month?”

Blizz: Hmm no.

Player: Ok Uh 6 months?
Blizz: No.

Players: Wow uh… a YEAR???
Blizz: No. Try TEN YEARS.

Player: wtf are you kidding?
Blizz: If you don’t want to wait TEN YEARS, then get it now. But if you’re being indecisive (since you don’t like the game) keep in mind this a LIMITED OFFER and if you don’t act now, you will have to wait TEN YEARS until you can get it again.

That is how I see the entire argument, from both sides, playing out. And nothing about that argument is misleading or wrong from where Blizzard is standing.

I disagree with your outrage on this one. Sorry.

edit to add: Whenever I talk about “rare” things and bringing them back, my stance is that after FIVE YEARS, any and everything should be brought back in some manner. In this example, Blizzard waited TEN YEARS. So yeah… there is nothing wrong with re-releasing this, even with the original verbiage.
