I wouldn’t go that far. What made MoP the golden age of arena was a multitude of factors, we had good gear, it had unique visuals, it had a pvp exclusive stat, and most importantly… Not a single spec in the entire game was completely unviable. You could take WHATEVER you enjoyed playing, and take it to a high rating, most likely within like 100-200 rating of your skill ceiling. Like that was my first 2.2k, as freaking Mage/Enh(me)/MW(or Rdruid). It was the most backwards comp I’ve ever played but it was super fun when we lined up the stars.
You’re not wrong, I didn’t say it was the only factor in making MoP popular in PvP, what I meant was that when we had a huge thread about PvP gearing when they first introduced vendors and were discussing the PvP trinkets, almost literally everyone on the planet kept asking “Why don’t they just add Resilience like MoP”
Go figure, one of the most popular expansions for PvP offered advantages in PvP to…people who primarily played PvP.
That’s all I want back. These trinket passives aren’t cutting it.
100% Agree. When I saw rating reqs thrown back on gear I was SUPER excited… That excitement is all but dead after seeing that it takes like 200k+ honor to upgrade CQ gear to duelist/glad levels…
Ironically i think it’s easier to gear in pvp atm. M+ drops 1 item every 48 dungeons and it’s like 10% of the time not a pos item. Raid bosses drop limited loot too. Pvp you can gear up much faster than any other content atm.
rerolling to a melee would fix that
That’s why PURE pvpers right now are sitting at ~186-190 ilvl and raiders/mythic+ peeps are chillin hard at 35k life and 205+ ilvl? Your logic is flawed.
I feel like you’re comparing the highest raiders vs the average pvp guys. Also at the very top of both it’s soft capped and slows. Getting to 190 in pvp is a days work if you have a solid arena partner and finish the quests. Getting to 190 in m+ is like no joke 100+ keystones with the current drop rate. And raid is limited to only so many chances of gear weekly, with limited verse options.
No it isn’t lol… 2 weeks of Mythic 0 and pretty much everyone was full or near full 184. So going into the 3rd week you get the vault, that’s one free high ilvl piece, you’re already 186 from that, throw in your leggo, boom you’re 188-190 right there. Then every single piece of Mythic+ gear is an ilvl advantage a pvp player is UNABLE TO OBTAIN outside of once every week.
At 1 full week of m0 with blue 151 AH gear i was about 170. With garbage stats. Then i used pvp to fill in the spaces between replacing half of the m0 gear. Took me about a day to do so. Then i did the first few bosses in raid and got nothing. Ive done like 10 m+ this week and gained nothing worth putting on. I’ve done like 40 arenas and upgraded all of the pvp gear i got from 1 day of playing last week. Sure you can put a bunch of garbage stat gear on if you want doing m+s. But if you want verse gear only 1/3 drops is worth a crap if even, and you only get a drop 1/2 keys. So it literally would require you well in access of 40 keys to itemize at a solid Ilvl. Hence why all of the top m+ raider io players are wearing a mix of stats atm. I’m uninterested in forsaking 10% verse for 2-3k hp and a few intellect. I guess if that’s an option for you than maybe m+ is in fact better, otherwise its not.
Heroic dungeons give 171, it took me a matter of 2-3 hours after hitting 60 to be fully heroic dungeon geared. Stop lying. My lock alt didn’t have a single piece of pvp gear before this week and was 180+ from just the 2 weeks of mythic 0 lockouts+leggo. He’s still not finished so he’s like 184-186ish, still need to replace some garbo crit/mastery with haste/vers but that’s whatever.
40 arenas, let’s pretend you win them all. Is 4k honor. You can’t even buy+upgrade a 158 chest piece to 184 for that much. That’s a single piece.
This must be the reason. It reminds me how all rogues pat themselves on the back how great in pvp they are. Newsflash, you aren’t better than most anyone. Your class is just a hell of a lot better for pvp than many others.
Lol you’re so mad about this. I’m not lying i just skipped heroic dungeons by getting 151 off the AH then walking in with 4 friends. Given you’re demeanor i understand if friends `are a foreign concept. I finished the first week in the high 170’s with maybe a half dozen heroics (looking for memory’s). Second week i did 3-4 bosses, 3-4 m2-4 and 30~ 2’s with 80% win, so like… 20-25 2’s wins. I’ve not won much else and I’m 192 ilvl tried some 2s with a warrior as disc and it went awful so add like 6 wins to that 2s and that’s my total SL progression to hit 192 ilvl and nearly perfect haste/verse gear.
Time= \ =Effort. Collecting unemployment, living with your parents , or being on workers comp should not garner you a gear advantage.
Seriously?
Fight fair?
So what you are saying in your example is that people who want to do PvE content (Raid and M+) and hop into PvP, that is fair and fine. Having to commit to PvP to get PvP specific gear is too hard, and you want to be given access and priority in all content because you put time into something you enjoy doing.
Meanwhile. Players who play this game to PvP, and absolutely detest PvE content, and hate being forced into it just so they can compete in the content they want to…that is not okay. Those people need to just deal with it, because the only people who matter are PvE centric players.
THIS is why resilience and later PvP Power were taken in the first place. The dedicated PvP community is vastly smaller than the PVE community. This means more subs come from PvE centric players, and it is more lucrative for Blizzard to cater to those folks.
Those folks, like yourself, who preach for others to get good and put time into PvE content they hate when they themselves are not willing to put time into PvP to do the same. They would rather the gear they get from PvE work for both.
PvPers are much less selfish. All we want is PvP stats that make PvP gear BiS for PvP. We don’t ask for that gear to work for raiding as well.
PvE and PvP content needs to have separate gear, period. Unless the dev team is willing to have all gear in both content types cost tokens. Tokens drop from raids, tokens drop from rated pvp…and those tokens are used to purchase equivalent gear across the board from vendors and doesn’t force players into doing content they don’t want to do.
It’s possible I read your comment wrong. I think you meant ‘people who PvE are allergic to a fair fight’.
All we want is PvP stats that make PvP gear BiS for PvP. We don’t ask for that gear to work for raiding as well.
In fact historically it hasn’t. Pvp gear has ALWAYS been 1 tier down in item level from the current raid gear. This was done so PvPers could still do their dailies, dungeons with friends etc, but still had to COMMIT to PvE gear if they wanted to truly progress in PvE content. With the PvP power/resil however it made up for this ilvl difference, I don’t remember the numbers, but general it was the same ilvl as heroic dungeon, with the elite weps being normal raid level. We had a crafted blue set, an honor set (which was normally the previous season’s set) and the epic/elite current set which required specific rating. A person in crafted pvp would still be at a slight disadvantage to pve players, but someone in honor gear would be slightly better and a full elite set would put you head and shoulders above the pve player. Meanwhile if you stepped into a dungeon with those people, they’d destroy you on the meters as it should be. It worked perfectly.
For sure.
That is kinda what I was getting at. I am mostly referring to the best PvP gear being better than the Bis PvE gear for PVP. Conquest gear should always be better than raid gear for PvP.
I don’t really understand the ‘PvP gear just takes time, PvE gear takes time and rng’ argument. We can’t friggen hop into raids with PvP gear anyways, so the argument is null. If you want to be good in PvP content you should need to gear in pvp, vice versa for pve content. (By PvE content I mean Raids and M+, not open world stuff)
That is mostly what I was getting at. Albeit being wordy, like I am now lol
Yeah I have a habit of text walls. It’s an issue.
They could make pvp gear mythic raid levels, and people still wouldn’t use it over mythic PvE gear EVEN TODAY because Vers is such a bad stat in pve. If they just threw on some PvP power to our 184 honor gear we’d be freaking SSSEEEEETTTTT
If they just threw on some PvP power to our 184 honor gear we’d be freaking SSSEEEEETTTTT
Yep! Such a simple and easy fix really. One stat, and we have what we want. The problem will always be that PvE centric players for some reason believe they should be allowed both content types while only committing to one.
Somehow we PvPers are just too selfish, asking for too much, for wanting pvp gear to be bis for pvp. How dare we.
I loved templates, leveled a char went right into pvp with no gear. Legion was amazing, I was able to level about 6 chars and enjoy pvp on all of them.
