I’ll take “you must’ve missed the entire thread promoting this harassment yesterday” for 100!
I’m not getting on a plane!
… so you’re trying to say shaming and harassment is common and okay? Okay.
Wasn’t my point at all! I can’t make anyone feel sorry or repent. I’m not a priest.
This was a PSA to go along with what went down around here yesterday. After a bunch of us learned of our friend taking a break, I decided to create a conversation. People read way too much into things.
… there’s nothing dramatic about what happened, though. Friend got harassed, friend was not angry or upset. Friend just decided to take a break, because positive vibes from other game, negative vibes from WoW. That’s really it. They weren’t sobbing. No one was. lol
Let’s be real, they do that enough on their own. In that thread, or one of them last night they flew into a “YOU INSULTED ME!” tirade because I had to explain how charts worked in a pretty admittedly pedantic fashion. Literally went from arguing facts to arguing feels.
I’ll do you one better. I bet their friend doesn’t even exist. It’s the internet, people lie. You’d be surprised how many people in Brutosaur arguments I had who don’t understand how an economy works trying to pretend like they’re wealthy daytraders.
That was far from a tirade, sir. Responding calmly with no emotion is not a tirade. There was no yelling, there was merely statement. I attempted to engage in a conversation, you degraded into insults as you usually do. That’s it. Pretty simple. I decided, with no emotion at all, to simply not engage with you further. Kind of like I shall do now, as well.
Thanks for the thread bumps! I’m sorry you’re so angry at the world!
No, I saw the thread and I’m fine with how a community chooses to police itself. That’s kind of the job of the community. I might not agree with it but I certainly don’t care enough to try and lie about having a friend quit the game because someone insulted their 20 dollar transmog. For real though, if this is an honest story, it’s probably good they quit if they’re that thin skinned. I can’t imagine they’d take it well if they caused a raid wipe and got blamed.
Chill with the windmills there, Don Quixote. Also yes, shaming and harassment is common, it’s been common for a long while. In fact you’ve done quite a bit of it yourself, try to tell me it isn’t common. Just because you feel valid in why you’re shaming others doesn’t change that basic premise. Do you think the people shaming people for encouraging this business practice and increasing the likelihood Blizzard will do it again don’t feel justified in what they’re doing? They feel just as justified in their behavior as you do here crying about a probably fictional friend and saying they should feel ashamed for what they did.
So your friend quits (allegedly) and you write a giant sob story about it laced with insulting rhetoric to people who shamed them trying to guilt trip them over it. In a way I wish this was your intention because then it could be seen of as “noble but horribly executed”, now it just comes off as you knew there was no good and did it anyway because you like to hear yourself speak. Come off it.
Correct, there is nothing dramatic, so why are you trying to talk about it and make it public like anyone cares?
Well that’s a complete 180 from YOUR actual recollection of. Do I need to post it again so you have an idea of what you said? Ah hell with it, I’ll do it anyway.
Congratulations, anti-shop community! You’ve successfully managed to actually gain traction on harassing people who have the new transmog! A friend of mine has stopped playing because of days of toxic behavior. You should be proud, those of you who support harassing others for some pixels! Perhaps if you keep it up, you’ll have the game all to yourselves and we can get all of those pesky happy customers to quit!
So they didn’t quit because of this, but you deliberately state “A friend of mine has stopped playing because of days of toxic behavior.”
You try to imply you aren’t shaming people. . . “You should be proud, those of you who support harassing others for some pixels! Perhaps if you keep it up, you’ll have the game all to yourselves and we can get all of those pesky happy customers to quit!”
Like holy hell, it’s one thing to misremember something 11 hours ago, but to outright lie about what you said and is objectively visible to anybody who scrolls up is just beyond sad.
Its crazy how some of the people who are so against micro transactions are totally OK with all the truly, unnatural weird that has been added to WOW. I honestly cannot think of a big game that does not have micro transactions in it, and who honestly is hurt by this?
You have always been able to kick people from a group for whatever reason you would like. You can kick someone because their character name starts with a certain letter if you want. I mean I get what you are saying but technically kicking someone because of their transmog falls in line with the ToS.
I used to 4 man the timewalking events when I still played with friends, we’d kick the pug right before the last boss for no reason. One actually sent me death threats over it in whispers after the dungeon then spammed WRA trade chat complaining about it.
Somehow the reaction was more hostile than the action.
I’d totally kick someone for a transmog. If the majority agrees with that, then so be it.
My assumption is that it depends on the server and group. I didn’t have an issue on Emerald Dream. I did get kicked from a couple groups after creatively worded comments about the wings I had on, but that was it. I saw a lot of it on MG and WrA. I’m thinking it’s a “SRS BSNS” roleplayer thing. And that crazy group of people who thought Asmon said “go harass people” and they went, “OKAY!”
Actually, she said that people should be harassed for wearing it. Not just kicked from group… but harassed.
Right? I had people say things like “Farming gold is fun and easy, It’s part of the game. They can add whatever they want to the store cause it’s free” yet only had 2m LOL
