I have no idea how this is “clear.” It sounds pretty insane to me. I have never heard of anyone obsessing over the amount of time they use during a subscription.
June: “Geeze, I only watched Netflix a few hours a week, that’s too expensive!”
July: “Wow, Netflix is so cheap! I was watching five hours a day!”
August: “Ugh, it costs SO MUCH! I watched a couple hours this month.”
And show me where exactly you can prove this is happening? It sounds like you’re making stuff up to further your own opinion without facts or logic.
You’re looking at it the wrong way my dude.
If you buy a sub in january, play till the end, then resub in march when you feel like playing again
and instead you bought 3 months of sub with a discount and you fell off halfway february until halfway march, you wasted a month of gametime
etc etc.
People think they’re saving money but they are not. Unless they’re sure that they’re gonna play these 6 months and not quit for a week or two here and there.
Eh, while I don’t doubt the OP friend was harassed, I think it was more that the person or persons were severely social inept or disturbed and were looking for a reason to harass someone. While they attacked the player because of the mog, it was more than likely just an excuse to be terrible people.
So everyone wastes months, according to you. I am glad you know how often I play to inform me of this.
Well I base these “assumptions” off from friends I know who resubbed here and there . There’s a term for getting the “wow itch”. So I think there’s some truth in it.
If you went to the gym everyday, or atleast went 3 days a week and you bought it for a month.
While the other guy buys 3 months for a discount and skipped 2 weeks within, he wasted money already.
How is this such a hard concept to get lol? Do you think you’re not wasting a gym subscription either if you go once or twice in a month to the gym? seriously…
The assumption is that everyone plays like they do.
They’re also assigning a subjective measurement (value) to an objective resource (game time). Folks value their game time differently. Some may find worth in playing only on the weekends and decide that’s worth a 6 month commitment. Others may play every day but like paying month to month for flexibility. Different views of the value.
Bottom line is if you buy 6 consecutive months individually, you pay more than someone who subscribes, regardless of your time played.
Humans will come up with all sorts of excuses to be terrible. It’s like this weird glitch in our brain
That is not what you said.
This is what you said:
These two arguments are not the same thing. Playing every day to get the full value of your subscription =/= Playing and then falling off the game halfway through your subscription.
It also doesn’t really matter because money’s value is completely subjective to the person spending it. You can’t say someone wasted their money, because they may feel like they didn’t. You don’t really know.
To add to this, I seriously doubt anyone throws down six month subs unless they’re absolutely certain they’re still going to be playing six months from then. You’re basing a lot of your arguments on assumptions that are easily disprovable.
Hypotically speaking, if you played for 5 months and logged in every week, against someone who bought the discount for 6 months and missed a week here and there, the person who bought the 6 months lost his money.
I’m just stating that it not always saves you money.
And like you said
Is an assumption too. Because I know people that did this.
Great. I know people that buy 6 month subscriptions and play a few days a week.
If missing a few days of your subscription is a waste, then are you saying that someone who pays for 30 days of game time and isn’t logged in and playing for the following 720 hours of that 30 days, that they’ve wasted their money, too?
Obviously that’s hyperbole, but that’s kinda the logic you’re using here when you say you only save money if you log in everyday.
Depends on ones’ outlook. It avoids having to login every week and farming mats or old raid spamming on a set schedule. That could make the price well worth it.
The value of my 6 month block buys is not hours per day played. Its I play how I want. I don’t play for x amount of time to make the token money and THEN play for fun.
I did old raid spam on lockdown/telework for example. Its makes money. That I will grant. Its not engaging gameplay to me. It got me some token money, some fun money. BUt…now that RL is more RL again once the token time burns off I will sub block buy again.
4 weeks in I just found wod raid at mythic and heroic at least on 6+ chars tedium. PAid decent…still tedious AF.
Also for some we go by the dollar an hour rule. 15 hours of play…paid off. 80 dollar game? 80 hours played, paid off. Now if I play wow for 40 hours a week…it paid back extra lol.
Guys I get it, but he’s just trying to derail.
Is literally the same amount of time…so trolling or derailing, either way it’s not a sincere argument.
nah, people shouldn’t wear it, it’s ugly.
Oh. So everyone is like your friends. Okay.
There is not. Many people who sub for longer periods of time to things for discounts take into account their time they will be spending. Perhaps some do not, but when deciding to purchase any subscription for longer periods of time, people think about these things first.
Yes. We are all exactly like him and his friends.
Yes! Which is not how things work.
Your experience is not everyone’s.
You are correct. I shall stop engaging him.
What a clique on these forums
You’re talking in generalizations, but let me go ahead and move along with your “theory”. Suppose I do login every week - that doesn’t mean I log in every day in that week. The person who missed a week occasionally on his six month sub might play more on average when he does login than I do. I might play an hour a day. He might play five hours every two days. Assuming one hour is equal to $1 of playtime, then if I were to somehow manage logging in every day for sixty days (two months), then maybe I feel like I’ve already made my money back with the six month sub in just two months. You literally cannot force your own value of money onto others. That’s not how this works.
But again, this goes back to what I said before: The value of money is subjective to each person. I might play less, but I might feel like I still got my money’s worth.
Okay, and? Even if it were an assumption, what your rebuttal tells me is that you have friends that either didn’t strongly consider their playing habits when deciding to purchase a six month sub, or they did get their money’s worth despite not playing every day because we don’t know what the value of money is to them.
Good, nothing should be for sell in shop imo. Everything should be made to earn as rewards, especially since we pay for expansions and monthly subs
That sounds like a lewd ad
Oh man, if only Blizzard gave us an option to earn the cosmetic with our subscription.
If only…
