FFXIV PvP has been improving but still is an inferior product as far as potential. FFXIV is a far superior experience for the playerbase. Every player is able to feel like their contribution is valuable to the team and games are mostly competitive. Conversely, after WOD and Legion, Blizzard decided that they didn’t want games to be competitive. They pitched a “gear matters” slogan and killed off PvP participation. They want heavily imbalanced teams and games to suck in the hopes that casuals on up will buy pvp carries in arena, which in turn makes arena suck hairy balls as well. They are trying to maximally exploit people addicted to chasing a high gained by winning, much the same as many of the other P2W MMOs.
