Gold Trading Question

Good morning y’all,

I hope all is well. I had a quick question about the new TOS rules that blizzard has posted, specifically about Gold Trading. I understand gold trading between different versions of classic is against the rules now such as Cata to 20th anni gold swaps.

With that said, I have Horde account and an Ally account under the same bnet where I make gold on each auction house fliping mats, consumes, etc. If I would trade gold through the neutral AH between the two faction accounts who are under the same bnet account, is that bannable? An example would be posting an item at 500g on the Ally account, then buying it on my Horde account so I could get my Ally account gold if needed.

Hopefully this is okay under the new rules with it being two accounts under the same bnet. However, if it’s not, it’s not a big deal, I just don’t want to do something like that before getting all the info on the new rules.

Thank you in advance!

As stated in the Support article, it is not allowed in any Classic iteration.

Based on that Support article link Melaseia, I see why Kurtdragon is asking that question. That link mainly mentions “gold sellings” and “Trading” as the issue as well as “engagment with others”. Depending how CS views it, I’d assume accounts under the same bnet don’t act as “others” or “another player” and are considered “freinds” or the “the same account/player” instead. So it be like sending items through the mail on one account and getting it instanlty on the other account when both are under the same faction and bnet.
Based on that mentaility, I could see the argument kurtdragon is presenting with using the neutral AH inleu of a mailbox to send items and/or gold between different faction accounts under the same bnet. Also, from my understanding, the “trading between factions” process involves four characters (two toons on each faction) which neutral AH would only involve two players. Also, also, the neutral AH cut is like 15% which is a lot overall. So I guess it really depends on how CS views different faction accounts under the same bnet.

Idk how the wow forum process works with being newish in them, but hopefully a CS rep or tech helps further clarify your question beyond the support article that Melaesia greatfully provided.

Good luck mate!

It’s completely fine to ask any question, of course, but there’s nothing ambiguous about it. The Support article directly says: “Trading gold across WoW Classic realms or factions, or different versions of WoW (Modern to Classic), is prohibited.

That section is saying “particularly” and “often”. It is not a catch-all situation. It’s basically giving an example as reasoning why this prohibition is in place. It doesn’t mean it’s an exhaustive list.

It’s not allowed. It doesn’t matter how Blizzard views accounts on the same or different Battlenet account. It’s prohibited, no matter what the intention or the circumstances.

There’s nothing to clarify. It’s not allowed. Period.

Use your Warband to trade gold amongst your characters…much easier, ALOT less risk.

There are no warbands in the Classic versions of the game.

That’s for modern WoW, but yes, Warband banks are why this is not prohibited in retail. In fact, neutral AH’s are no longer a thing in retail.

I don’t think this is an answer CS can really give an answer for.

Ohhhhh, I am sorry…lolz.
I thought this was only customer support for Retail.
Silly me… didn’t realize that all versions shared the Customer Support forums.

So… totally ignore what my silly butt said, lol.

Hopefully you can find your answer soon.

The answer for the OP is here:

Using the Neutral AH is totally okay.

Using the Neutral AH to specifically trade gold between accounts xfaction in classic is not.

Seems pretty cut and dry.

Yup and big reason this is longer permitted is gold trading has been flooded with gold sellers trading dirty gold!
