Should Blizz do a gold squish by moving the decimal over one spot? If you have a 100 gold it will become 10 gold. Also on the plus side the WoW token will be 30k and not 300k.
Why?
I’m willing to bet that less than 1% of the active players have more than 1 million gold.
I don’t think that will work out very well. They would have to move that decimal point over for the entire database, and they don’t have a good history of doing things like that properly.
also… why?
Why should they take away my hard work?
The point of this would be…?
no
Nope they should not do that.
The only way I think they’d be able to manage a gold “squish” is by minting a “100 gold” coin and balancing the game’s “natural income” around that.
Suddenly those WQs go from giving 530 gold to “5 whatsits, 30 gold,” folks with 10 million gold tooling around have 100k whatsits out the gate, quest rewards and vendor costs scale around things rewarding/selling for/costing amounts in the 2-10 whatsit range, etc.
Even then, though, that would probably bring about a lot of complaining.
There’s zero point to this. WoW isn’t Old Republic. We don’t see stuff on the auction house for 250,000,000 gold.
I have come to the realization that the economy is less about math and more about “do the pritty numbers make people feel nice”.
If the people with the pritty numbers don’t feel nice they complain at loud brain splitting volume.
Besides, unmm, no - Why? Just curious why this came to mind for you? Is there some benefit you’re thinking of or just throw an idea up on the forum and see if it sticks? lol
It would help material farmers to make a living wage. Due to the region wide AH. Mats are going for coppers. New players would benefit too.
I see you haven’t really thought this through.
good talk.
I doubt it’s that low. 1 million gold isn’t that hard to get.
Then you’re farming the wrong things.
No.
So … Ok then.
It really is just practical math maintenance preventing the math from going into territory where it’s hard to keep track of. It also prevents numbers from going so large that its value becomes deceptive.
Hmmmmmm well you forget that we have 2 auction houses, and there have been mounts for sale at gold cap. You might not see it, but others do
That still isn’t any excuse to squish gold. As a matter of fact, it’s not even close to being one. That one mount we rarely see on the BMAH almost no one uses isn’t making or breaking the game.
No, that’s a terrible idea.
