Gold duping in burning crusade?

What happens if you give all your money to somebody in classic, copy him to TBC then on the classic server give that money to someone else, copy to TBC and then you have double the gold on TBC servers. I may have missed something but isn’t this a problem that could come from cloning?

From the way, they described it all characters are copied to both realm mirrors at the same time (during the TBC pre-patch), and then you have to pick which version you continue on with each of them, so this type of duping will not be possible.

say you have two friends, ones staying on classic vanilla and ones going to do both. classic vanilla guy gives his friend all of his gold and valubles for the snapshot. after the snapshot tbc guy dupes his toon and on the vanilla toon returns all the vanilla guys stuff back. ez free money

Player A and Player B both have 10k gold.

Player A is going to play both Classic and Classic TBC.

Player B has no interest in TBC. Will just play Classic.

Before the snapshot, Player B gives his 10k gold to Player A. Snapshot happens.

Player A goes into TBC with 20k gold. Then logs into his Classic character and hands the 10k back to Player B.

Of course for this to work, you need to find someone who isn’t going to play TBC, and trusts you with all their gold.

No system is perfect. Players will always find a way to take advantage.

I see it now. A new meta.

Player A Receives Player B’s 10k gold

Snapshot occurs

Player A now has 20k in BC, and will now give Player B 5k classic gold in return for the 10k in TBC.

There’s no point in any player staying in classic to not do this. Free money quite literally and good reason to believe it will be done on a large scale.

sounds like a solid ban wave coming in

This also would require the player to pay for the clone service. I misunderstood at first but see what you are talking about here.

Are you sure when the snapshot happens that won’t be choice time? That you won’t be able to give the gold back to the classic friend because at the time of the snapshot they won’t be moved to their classic era server?

I was confused about it at first. The snapshot will happen with player b having 0 gold but player A buys the clone service so move onto TBC and classic. So he can give the gold back after. Player B doesn’t gain anything but player A will have a character in tbc and classic with 20k under these rules. Player B in classic will have 0 gold. So you just need 2 trusting people, or hell just some friends. Player A has 20k Classic and TBC. Player B has 0 in classic till the cloned A gives him his original amount back.

However, if player B ever changes their mind and decides to clone over to BC, they will start BC with 0 gold. (What they had at the time of the snapshot.)

I mean, if Classic Era servers weren’t a thing, all of that gold would be moving to the BC servers anyhow.

With the new info, your characters are snap shotted at the same time so there won’t be gold duping.

Its a 1 time choice. If you choose to play on classic thats it. You won’t get the choice again to move onto bc with that character.

You can if you pay for the clone.

I’ma just shut up… im misreading everyones post. But in either case, the given scenario involves someone who simply never wants to go to BC so they arn’t thinking of that.

Yeah, I was planning to aggregate all of my gold on the one toon that I would be cloning for both Vanilla and TBC to ensure I have access to all of my gold for both versions.

Your example illustrates that gold should be held by a planned cloned toon at the time of snapshot and hijinks can happen.

Blizzard will obviously be making sure there will be zero way of being able to dupe gold.

lol… obviously. I doubt it tbh. Someone will find a way and blizzard won’t do anything about it until its far too late.

It wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened either so that wouldn’t surprise me.

Blizzard should put gold caps, this otherwise gonna be nuts. Ultimate inflation.

Entire guild mails gold to 1 guy, he dupes. Then mails gold back. Bam!
