Going to try Classic, SL is a bust

Boring? Compared to classic?
Grindy? What are you even grinding?

So doing extremely long content with 0 difficulty is less boring than current challenging content? Think about that for a second.

Could you be less vague?

I guess not

Pre-PoP EQ to me is the pinnacle of what a Fantasy MMORPG would look like to me. I imagine in my head about how DnD is essentially you travelling with your party for a few days going on an adventure. EQ was similar in this regard that you go to a spot and pull mobs and kill them camping there for several days while you share stories and talk to one another about what’s going on.

Combat wasn’t as interactive and sped up like WoW was, but honestly I liked it that way. I think a lot of what’s been missed is not because of LFD, or Cross-Realm. It’s pacing. It’s having the ability to zoom from 1-60 and not ever needing to talk to one player. MMOs like that the content was where you worked with other players and grouped up for levels the world revolved around that. Now it’s how fast can we get up to the top to do dungeons/raids that are more about spamming abilities aver .5 seconds without the need to ever invest in other people’s lives or getting to know them. Rather it’s only about individuals skills and telling them how to overcome silly mechanics that you see at the end game.

in this you are fooling yourself.
I mean classic’s highest difficulty is easy enough for no meta.
but SL raids has more difficulty. If sl raids stopped at normal, you would not need meta also.
Also i don’t agree with you for meta. If you are friends you play with them.
If you are not going for CE, you don’t need meta classes.

In the past most players wanted game to be more difficult. If your friends are not very good, they increase their knowledge and skills ,instead of going into an easier version of game , and blaming SL.

I’m playing the baldur’s gate 3 early access and while its only 4 person co-op, its like a breath of fresh air as far as returning this type of experience to gaming.

Um, okay. You asked why I and others liked classic, I told you. No amount of arguing is going to change the things that I find enjoyable.

I tried to enjoy it because it’s 5e rules and I play a weekly 5e game for over 5 years now but I just wanted to make my dream character like I can now so I’m waiting for more content.

It’s overly simple by comparison to retail.

You’re going to spam frostbolt, sinister strike, wait for MS/WW cooldown while autoattacking, etc. You won’t have a full toolkit to deal with every issue you come across. Maybe the class you play doesn’t have good CC, maybe you can’t heal, maybe you can’t take out two+ targets easily, etc.

But it’s fairly fun. It held my attention for the better part of a year and I don’t regret playing it even though I thought I’d play longer and possibly not make a return to retail.

Then try it. It’s included in your sub. Just a quick install and see if ya like it. Just note that races/classes mean a lot more in classic.

the main part of classic is the leveling/community; the raids and ability rotations are EXTREMELY simple. The only hard part about raiding is getting the whole group there, then it’s a breeze.

The raid buffs don’t even matter. It’s for min-maxers who get excited looking at parses in for a gamestate that’s so easy a caveman can do it. No one cares how high you parsed Rag… everyone kills him and there isnt a heroic/mythic version where the buffs might help with the outcome. Spending 30 minutes in dire maul (after getting out there) for buffs doesn’t save you even half that time in bosskills.

The best part about classic is the ganking… especially those who waste their time to get raidbuffs and don’t wait for their full raid to head out… lmao

Play what you love for sure! But isn’t classic super grindy? Just seems odd if that’s why you don’t like SL.

Classic is better for its open world. You will have the feeling of living in a zone for a bit before moving to the next.

Agree. The open world in classic feels like you’re in a world, not on a stage set full of toy soldiers and other props that they put there to set the mood.

I got from 46 to 60 mostly killing furbolgs in Felwood and Winterspring on this character, getting up to 14k or so revered before I realized that the trinket I was working toward was not going to be released until phase 5. I continued to play until my friend, a priest, got tired of waiting for mana and quit. I never liked tanking in classic. I’m not a raider anyway, so coming back to retail and cool things like aoe looting made it feel fresh again. LOL.

Last night I put a 26 druid in Felwood and killed furbolgs for a couple of hours for old time’s sake. And got up to revered. So different.

It’s also sad you were literally caught using exploits while livestreaming.

smh!!!

so Classic is different

the nostalgia is nice, but ppl don’t seem to talk to each other much

BFA was fun as long as I didn’t play it too much. SL is fun under the same conditions. The trick is to identify the fun/necessary activities and play other games when your list of weekly goals is complete. And once your goals for the patch are done, unsub until the next patch.

i pretty much gave up on SL after three weeks

i kept trying but i found myself logging in less and less

You are talking about Classic.

If Shadowlands is boring to you, you should simply stop playing the game.

It’s the best expansion ever for me! So much to do, read and see.
My rate: Over 9000 / 10

And classic is different?

Yes, you do get a full set of nearly raid gear.
And then what do you do?
I now outgear all of the content I am interested in doing.

If only. I wish I could grind something. Everything is time gated to hell and back.
