Idk am I the only one who found them fun and unique?
I like the idea of being able to customize your character in several ways, and giving them several different play styles.
I understand there’s a clear balancing issue with them in pvp that blizzard could have done a better job with but I honestly think it was a really interesting concept.
Especially the stat amp corruptions. I feel like a lot of us are going to miss this and only realize it once it’s gone.
essences were actually ok, azerite traits and corruption were really a problem though. It just wasn’t balanced around PvP. The essence system and changing those out before each game vs different comps was kind of cool.
The idea of corruptions is honestly great, but Blizzard handled it in one of the worst possible ways. They are extremely unbalanced and the devs put very little effort in actually doing a good job with balance for both classes and corruptions.
The vendor, corruption rotations and the prices are also extremely infuriating and let’s not forget how some people had close to 50k Echoes when the vendor first came out while the vast majority that dedicated to playing a single character had 0.
when they were first announced I thought it was going to be a serious min/max system where you had to had to weigh the risk vs reward of wearing corruption
but now I’m fully corrupted on every piece of gear with the only drawback being an inconvenient snare or eye spawning underneath me
i was hoping the penalty of corruption was going to be more severe
if you walk into an arena with +50% stat you should be dodging things from beyond the whole game
yeah no i wasn’t disagreeing i like essences to some extent personally
i think some were kinda weird and they were lazily too broad
class/spec specific glyphs that interacted with your class were interested though typically had less depth in most situations than essences
would be incredible to see glyphs returned with the depth/impact of essences just moved away from things like reap major and moved into buffing things your actual class did or giving you access to class specific abilities
Y3 I loved changing from reaping major to conflict major vs rmx kappa
Corruptions In concept could have been cool if it was like a new set of talents / gear slider where you could change them out each game or create diff sets.
The grind killed them for me. I love diff customization but the gameplay in practice and time just made it one the most unfun systems produced by blizzard to date for me
I came back after a year off for 8.3 because I knew there was a lot of fun to be had with corruptions/essences. I have enjoyed a lot of different builds. I think the main negativity comes from acquiring gear. Once you get the gear PvP has been a blast.
Was there tons of annoying stuff sure however there were plenty of positives too. Playing full Mastery Prot Pal was amazing because globaling a Bear tank running brambles was hilarious. Waiting for a mage to pop combust and popping wings so block dmg killed him priceless. Standing there and feeling like a WotLK mitigation tank again felt great while being able to hit for some big damage too.
There were a few very fun memorable moments in PvP in 8.3. So yea that will be missed. One of my favorite was doing 48 mil healing as Prot FCing against a wizard cleave at 2200 MMR in an RBG.
no the ones complaining are sick of haste amped destro/mages
the game cant even handle the haste most of the time
ring of frost 90% of the time is invisible because the cast is so fast
bad players don’t have to play well / juke well because sheep/fear are 0.3 second casts
anyone even half interested in actual pvp wont miss that at all
I love it when a dh has 248% haste and his breath of the dying minor procs 4 times on a single blade dance bleed and I lose 120k behind a pillar. I’m going to miss it.
