'This isn’t challenging! It’s just tedious.’ Get ready for it; it’s what they’ll all be saying.
For someone who doesn’t care, you sure do like to post in these threads a lot.
The thing is that it’s not just about simply beating Joana’s record. I assume that’s going to happen fairly quickly.
The trick is getting 40+ other players to not only all beat the record, but to do it using a mixture of every class in the game and not just Hunter, then getting enough gear once you hit 60, and then running through Molten Core while most of your raid is likely sleep deprived.
Nope. I dabble a bit on a pserver. Spiders silk is too common and sells for cheap on AH. I remember that stuff being rare and expensive
About fire resistance. How effective is mage’s Fire Ward in mitigating how much resistance they need?
Not sure if this information would even be available but I’m assuming that’s done by people chasing for the fastests times.
To me ,unless they were completely blind or just straight up stupid, to think they could of missed something that would SIGNIFICANTLY increase their chances of success of simply solving a “math problem” as quickly as possibly is just as unbelievable as
these people actually thinking they solved the same math problem much quicker when they KNOW for a fact they are practicing and using completely different variables
Tl;dr: In vanilla 4=1+1+1+1 and could only ever be reached that way. You think you can much quicker but only because for you 4=2×2…if that makes sense
they will be saying “i died to 2 mobs?rrrrreeeeeeee im going back to retail rrrrrrrrreeeeeee.”
thats about sums up what they will say.
Except there was a few factors that made FR mandatory that won’t exist today.
1.25% of the raid team won’t be doing 60% of the damage/healing.
2. World buffs were not being stacked as heavily, neither were consumables.
3.People are better as are our connections and computers.
People expecting a 1:1 MC experience are in for a shock. The only thing that speeds up PS kills that’s incorrect is the potential for PS to have the wrong resistance calculations programmed but with how fast the dps is burning the boss it’s not enough to make a significant dent in mana pools.
Your #2 is a testament to how wrong private servers were, if you’re basing it off that
more than likely, I firmly stick to 1 and 3 as reasons for faster progression than the in the old times.
- Gear was more important than player skill back in Vanilla. If you didn’t have gear, you didn’t get in. No FR = no invite
- This is just incorrect
- People might be better, but again. In Vanilla gear literally dictated if you could do the content. Again no FR = no invite. It’s mandatory doesn’t matter if you have a better connection.
I can’t wait for this thought process to get proven wrong
This!
I have been giving this whole week 1 Ragnaros thing some thought. Effectively, your top tier levellers are druids and hunters, mostly because they get movement speed increases early on.
Mages get some serious bang for buck AE farming but how contested will ideal grinding spots be and will they dynamically respawn adds?
So assume you have ample hunters, druids and mages at 60. Do you then use them to go back and help level slower classes (priests, warriors etc), do you churn out dungeons for prebis and/or farm BOE’s/consumables for the slower classes?
Vanilla being vanilla, I think the logistical controls of a guild will be more beneficial than an extra 1-2 days of being 60.
Overall I think content will be much easier with 1.12 talents and people knowing how to play… but this week 1 challenge is intriguing.
And warlocks. They might not move as fast but they can be non-stop levelers.
I’ll be very surprised (and impressed) if someone kills rag on week 1.
I’ll be even more surprised if rag doesn’t go down on week 2.
This!
This is more along the lines of what I am thinking too. I am in no rush this time around. Knowing this only ensures my confidence in knowing I just may be able to run NAXX and AQ40. In vanilla I did not have enough time to be able to go. What I mean by this is that Imay have been ready if I had about 8 more months before BC was released.
I do not know to be honest. I farmed rep for Thoreum brotherhood for months. I played 8 hours a day during the week after work and on weekends…we’ll sleep was far and even less between, well Let’s just say some Monday’s I was sent down for random drug tests. I did not look so healthy.
I just do not know. What about getting the .5 tier set. You almost have to have that from the DPS point of view. The farming for the elemental fire.
Even with a full guilds support with farming mats, it’s just too hard to say. Not saying it can not be done, just makes you really think about the things no ones talking sbout is all…or is it because some of the people posting out of their arses on the forums over and over again on this very topic never played Vanilla?
I am 100% in your boat, I hope so too…
But the evidence I have seen is that private server are actually typically more difficult than classic was.
Why? When they were making the base Nos server they made every raid boss have the highest armor/resist/health values they could prove, and if they found two conflicting sources they always took the source with the higher stats… just to be safe…
We are also not getting progressive itemization, so we are going to have access to gear that is significantly better than before.
They also made default values possibly higher when the stats were unknown.
Also the talents will be 1.12 talents… which are much stronger than what was available when MC came out.
There are also a few things that could make classic more difficult…
Of them…
-Better boss AI
-More accurate Mob/adds abilties
-Does Expose armor stack with sunder armor???
-Flasks are more difficult to obtain due to longer and more limited spawn times for reagents, same with world buffs
-Lower defense stat on tank gear due to no progressive itemization(Though this may not entirely be a buff because other gear was increased in power significantly)

You don’t need anything to clear MC other than some regular drops from 5 mans, it won’t be anything crazy at all. In fact if it’s later in that 2nd week, you can have some consumables going with a 40 man team and it’d be pretty easy.
That’d mean by like day 10-11 you’d have a solid team of hardcores that nolifed leveling 60, you do some dungeon runs for gear and so on. You could kill rag before a submerge on week 2 in fact if it was late in that week 2.
Won’t surprise me if people squeak it in on day 8-9 if they insist on really not sleeping. But week 2 is “easy” for people dedicated to doing it.
Week 1 rag kill won’t happen. week 2–almost definitely. a guild with a heavy caster core at 60 won’t have the problems overcoming the DPS requirements as a guild with a heavy melee dps core would.
