I hope they do it on pvp server or it doesn’t count.
And I hope they will stream their daily progress and that there will be a pvp guild on that server (even though there won’t be any rewards, just for fun) and they will purge their fire resist buffs from lbrs as they exit, or mc them into lava.
I would find that quite enjoyable to watch.
I believe it may be a bit harder.
-
If blizzard blocks certain addons it would actually give the classic feel.
-
Different macros no one button spamming.
-
Leveling might be a bit harder on exp than pserver.
-
Some abilities on raid bosses didn’t work properly on pservers.
Only thing that might give them a better chance is patch 1.12 due to nerfs % of hp / damage/ longer duration on abilities.

13 days is bare minimum for first “hardcore” guild to down molten core, anything under 13 days is impossible, as leveling will take roughly 10-11 days for entire guild, so I’ll put first mc clear on 13-16 days.
I also hear boss armor was too low on private servers, so even those that come fresh prepared from them, are in for a shocker, not to mention some ability tuning.
Keep in mind, too, that the 4 days 20 hours is -played- time as well. The actual real-life time was more than 7 days. So in order to beat Rag week 1, the entire guild would have to level, gear, and clear, all in less time than the current world record holder took to hit level 60.
Once Raggy is down for a guild, players don’t just sit around waiting for BWL. There’s pvp shortly after, gold grinding, professions, profession alts, warlock alts, raid two alts, devilsaurs, black lotus, rep grinds, continued gear grinds.
If anyone complains about lack of content it shouldn’t be raiders.
That levelling time was on a well established PVE realm using a hunter which is accepted as the fastest levelling class. Warriors and Priests, two classes absolutely necessary to the raid do not level anywhere near as fast.
Yes private servers were wrong. They were much harder than actual vanilla content lol. Rag will be down in the second week, guarenteed or you get all my gold in classic
yeah FR is only really a requirement for tanks, assuming the entire raid is made up of competent players
8-9 days has been done on blizzlike private servers, getting that 7th is a real challenge, and i think no lifers are going to go the extra mile to try and shave off that time
meh wouldn’t say impossible. However it requires pretty much full dedication, vacation from the job, no other things needing to be done so you can dedicate any where from 10 to 16hrs the first week a day on wow. Also requires mapping you need to know where you going the path your going and probably a time frame to how long to hit it. However chances are it would require you to have little or no set backs ones you enter the raid as you would probably have only 1 day maybe even a few hours to clear it before reset.
Anyone actually doing this not just someone talking out their poop hole I mean someone seriously dedicated to this will have their duck in ordered, spreadsheet probably a notebook by their side with notes and all such of info to help them achieve this.
Biggest set back is getting min of 39 other people to do the same which again if preplanned that would mean they already have groups set etc so their is no downtime waiting on anyone.
if a guild like method wants to do it, i would have to put my money on them.
after listening to the lengths they go to, and the ingenuity behind some of the stunts going on these days …
these guilds are dedicated, funded, and very crafty. it would not surprise me at all if they concocted a way for 40 people to level in near record time.
Private servers were much easier than Vanilla. That’s just a fact.
classic will be easier than vanilla as well
Maybe some were, I’m sure some were plenty more difficult as well.
Don’t worry, I won’t. I’ll spend that time leisurely getting my epic mount, finishing quests for rare items, maxing out reputations, making gold, stockpiling consumes, leveling alts, and ganking the 99% of players less geared than me
Are you talking about knowledge and strategies? Because most private servers had overtuned raid encounters and some even had progressive itemization. Not that it matters either way, as PvE content in neither is difficult overall.
The devil is in the details. If you’re speaking statistically, no they were not, You can’t say something is “just a fact” when it’s blatantly incorrect. Private servers have been overtuning vanilla bosses since like 2012. Now, was it harder on 2005 when people had no idea what they were doing? Of course, but that’s a different story.
The only advantage people have when classic is up, is the hind site they have going into it, if they can remember from when they played in Vanilla almost 20 years ago now.
most hardcore players will have been playing private servers much more recent than 20 years ago.
Don’t see why anyone would care either way, really.
If people take a vacation from work (or don’t work) just to down Rag fast in week 1, great for them. I think most people won’t be hitting 60 in week 1 though, haha.
