Lol he probably doesn’t want to do the whole raid after he gets the gear HE needs from certain bosses. He wants the game to cater to him and he wants to selfishly not help any other players get gear. That’s what I’m hearing at least.
Gnomer is miles better than BFD. The pacing between trash and boss, the teleporters, the boss fights. It’s all miles better than BFD. I don’t want non-linear shoehorned in just to be there. Linear is fine, the raid is fine.
You are asking them to do something they have come out publicly against. They have already said they don’t want to make SOD hard, they want it for the average dad gamer. If that’s a deal breaker I would suggest finding another mode of this game to play.
I’m not sure he is asking for it to be more difficult. He seems to be saying that he wants it to be more difficult for tanks and healers (i.e. mobs hitting harder and threat being more of an issue), but he also wants it to be easier for DPS (i.e. fewer and/or more basic mechanics for them to deal with).
It’s a strange thing to be asking for in my opinion, but I don’t feel that he did a very good job of laying out his position coherently either.
He thinks the mechanics are retail based on…his feelings I guess as he never makes it clear what makes a mechanic like retail. He wants open raids instead of linear raids for…reasons he has not even tried to explain.
Something like that would implode SOD in one week.
This is one the worst suggestions for SOD so far.
Besides an “handfull” of sweaties, no one wants to dive in hard, boring and super time consuming raids in a mmo in 2024, much less in a seasonal mode.
On other hand, no one wants to participate anymore in gatekeeped mmo’s, where only a few no lifers have the opportunity to walk into real end game ang get bis.
We live in a time, where almost anyone can buy triple A souls like/rogue lite/platform/arcade sp/co-op games, just in a few seconds, in order to have a decent challenge and “prove” their skills.
Thinking there’s space in the dying genre of mmo’s, for servers dedicated to gatekeep content of casuals, in order to fulfill the egos of half a dozen sweaties, is ludicrous… Unless you turn it, into a collectionable platform, with online shop for basically everything and directed for children/early teenagers, like retail did.
It is and is a very dated way to design the game. I feel like he wants to be able to do his “rotation” without having to move and the only movement can only be during a Boss immunity phase when you can’t DPS anyway.
We need to remember there are still a lot of clickers out there especially in Classic.
Like the Basilisk in Gnomer?
UBRS is perfectly puggable. It requires. planning and strategy to get down Valthalak & Drakkisath in a pug when you’re at the appropriate gear level.
The difference between UBRS and SoD Gnomer is that UBRS feels like it belongs in classic and SoD Gnomer does not.
This is an interruptible stun, not a permanent threat drop. Just interrupt it and it doesn’t even happen.
SSC/TK/Karazhan bosses and trash absolutely had mechanics removed when they were nerfed.
And you’re missing the point, regardless. They were too hard for people even with classic mechanics. My point is that it is totally possible for classic mechanics to be challenging.
Retail mechanics? LOL. My god these classic andys (and axewipe is the biggest one ive met) have legit zero clue how retail operates.
If you think this is a “retail-like raid” then i have a bridge to sell you.
Down the guy to 50, press a button. Do that 4 times. Its not even 1% as close to retail is… The first four bosses literally do nothing to you, im not sure its possible to even wipe on them.
What a wild take.
As a balance druid… the first boss has VERY touchy threat. I constantly have to stop DPS because I’m 120+ threat and he focuses me.
I’d like to see a “hard mode” for current raids with slightly better rewards.
Now that is a ridiculously stupid idea.
You said it’s stupid without point out why your simple mind thinks it’s stupid. You must just be in here trolling.
Why is that? Honest question.
If it’s because you don’t want skilled players leaving your groups for more challenging content, well… I guess I can see your point? I don’t agree with it, but I understand the sentiment.
Hard modes are fine if they’re implemented like SoM AQ40 (activated via RP and in-game items)
They are NOT fine if they’re just a toggle on your menu (like in WotLK or retail)
It is a lot more work to develop immersive hard modes like in option 1. It’s not realistic to expect these outside of 40-man raids, IMO.
Precisely why I said hard mode and not heroic. =)
We’re paying for this. We should and do expect hard work on their end.
I got disconnected because of the elevator near electrocutioner and when I logged back in, I was inside the raid next to the back door exit. The backdoor exit portal is also nonfunctional. Had to own myself to the elites and run back as a ghost to the main entrance.
I shouldnt need to explain why adding heroic modes with higher level loot makes absolutely zero sense for a wow classic version of the game.
That instantly eliminates 90% of the playerbase from getting the better actual bis loot, and requires twice as many lockouts a week.
Just a brutally bad idea.
They stopped creating immersive hard modes in WotLK, at their peak of subscribers, 15 years ago before inflation… we’re still paying only $15/month and there are a small fraction of people playing the game now.
The fact that they came back in SoM AQ40 was impressive, and I think we might see them eventually in SoD… but I don’t think it’s practical to expect Blizzard to make 2 (or more) versions of every single encounter.
Erm… It’s not that much work to implement activation criteria. It’s much more work to add mechanics, and ensure things are balanced.
Real question: why the hate for a toggled option? If it’s about immersion… Should the game be tailored for those who value immersion? And if so, what makes their preferences have a higher value than others, who get their kicks from challenging gameplay. I’d almost argue that challenging gameplay is far more immersive. When you’re absorbed into the scenario, paying attention to the area around you for threats… Being on the ball, when it comes to incoming threats…
Idk, maybe we just have different ideas of immersion. And that’s okay! But to prioritize one player’s ideology over another’s… That’s not as okay, imo.
Yes. This is Classic WoW. Welcome to our game.
Retail is over there if you don’t care about that.
