I’ve had this feature/bug for some time now. To narrow down the source, I disabled all my addons. It still occurs. After starting a battle some of my action button associated with spells light up with a glowing gold border. The glow goes away if I click it or eventually with time. The buttons that are glowing are valid suggestions for my next cast. This happens on all my classes with suggestions appropriate to the class. Is this a base WoW feature? Can I turn it off? Can I change it? I’d include an image, but it doesn’t look like I can
Depends on why it’s happening - sometimes the glowing borders happen on actions because they’ve procced something - like my Avenger’s Shield on my paladin will glow because I just got an extra charge of it. Same with my Barbed Shot when I get an extra proc on it for hunter.
You can also check to make sure you don’t have tutorials on with Esc > Interface > Display > uncheck Tutorials.
The only other thing I can think of is that there’s a UI malfunction, at which point you’d want to try a UI reset:

If you encase the image link in between two `` then it will allow you to include the link in your post.
Alternatively, you can highlight the link in your post and click the </> icons above.
I tried adding a link to an image. It allowed me to add the link in edit, but said I couldn’t add when I went to save.
Did you put a space between the syntax and the text? Because that might spur the error.
Just highlight the URL you want to share, and then click that button. That’s all you need to do in order to get it to save.
The tutorials option was off. I even tried turning it on and then off again. The behavior seems perfectly normal like you describe for your paladin.

this feature was added in 4.0.1
- Spell Alerts have been added to notify players when procs on select spells and abilities occur. A visual notification will display around the character and the activated ability will be highlighted on the action bar.

Sounds like it’s normal game behavior, then - no need to worry.
That was the very last suggestion, in case it wasn’t happening during a proc. I’ve sometimes had buttons stuck with the glowing proc when they shouldn’t have been, but at least it seems to be working correctly!

When I do a search on spell alerts, they are referring to the aura around a character. Does it include the buttons as well? I’ve tried moving the spell alert slider to off. It gets rid of the aura, but not the button behavior. The button glow is mainly an irritation. I used rotation builder when I haven’t been on a class in a while.
