Forky tried to link the other thread to this one and it got removed lol
Do you not think global warming is a serious issue in WoW?
That’s what the other thread was about…
Thanks for making another thread about this horrible addon.
If you keep making it pop up on the topic list, the devs have a better chance of actually taking notice and preventing this toxic harassment addon from working…and hopefully any similar addons in the future.
Also, the other thread has 4K views…so I don’t know if an extra 100 downloads is something to brag about.
I bet most of the downloads are their own team downloading it multiple times to boost the numbers like they are bumping and spamming threads.
If you have the knowledge, take a look at the code and you’ll see why it’s near impossible to break without breaking every other addon. You saying it is a ‘toxic harassment’ addon is not factual, and you’ll never be able to prove that. It isn’t true.
it’s factual.
because for one thing, you’re harassing the forums, basically
Even if these types of addons ever “took off” and became popular, nothing a quick $10 name change can’t fix
Very easy to “get around” any such blacklist.
What is factual is that the add-on is a player-managed (by you) add-on that permanently brands players with no context or transparency.
The standards are based solely on the developer’s (You) standards with no actual consideration for Blizzards own code of conduct.
And to get your name removed from the list, you have to apologize to the developer (You).
There is nothing in how your add-on works that does not meet the definition of toxic. And obviously, permanently branding as a bad person is a form of harassment.
oh wow, lmao
this book is open and shut
Are you sure? Check again.
Forky has left the building. Wonder if he got a forum vacation for spamming.
From your add-on page. What am I checking?
" A: There are no set rules, but reports should be made with common sense. Reasons should be for issues that the community generally finds annoying, like throwing a dungeon/raid, excessive toxicity, or discrimination."
“A: Reports should typically come with some form of evidence, and the issue must be of arguably reasonable concern. For appeals, reports are added to the list when there is evidence or a justifiable reason, as such evidence should be given as to why the report should be invalid. In light cases, admission of wrong-doing is acceptable, but for extreme cases this admission typically will not cut it.”
I think its ironic that a tool used to discriminate against branded players also brands players for discrimination.
I’m not the one accusing you of swapping alts. Again, you mislabel me in your defensive firestorm of responses here.
I’m going to give you one last bit of advice and then I’m focusing back on work (honestly I’ve spent way too much time on this as is)…take it or ignore it.
Stop being antagonistic…like full stop. Not one more post trying to rationalize or defend yourself.
Take some time and compile a professional post explaining who you are and what the addon is. Explain how things work on a basic level while also inviting people to review your code. You can even make a list of frequently asked questions or concerns and address each of them. Finish it off by asking people for specific feedback or questions they still may have and that you will respond to as much of those as possible and will be ignoring any insults or baseless accusations.
Like I’ve said, I support you and what you are trying to do (despite the obvious issues and natural imperfections such a system is rife with), but I can 100% guarantee that you need us FAR more than we need you or this addon. You aren’t being paid anything for this (I assume anyway) and even if your end goal is to end up with a cleaner and less toxic community, I can guarantee your addon won’t play any part of that unless YOU get your act together and get the community on your side.
Best of luck either way.
Individual addons have been broken/banned in the past. I imagine if Blizzard took action on this addon and you created a new one their legal team would send you a cease and desist notice.
You know. Reading this thread, I’m not exactly given a good impression of the add on.
They need a PR person because every thread they enter turns into this lol.
You are not wrong and even in the Terms of Use for their API access this is in the first paragraph “Blizzard makes the Blizzard Developer APIs available to qualified licensees subject to the following obligations, terms, and conditions, including Blizzard’s right to limit, change, suspend, or terminate any or all of the Blizzard Developer APIs entirely or Your access to them and/or to the website located at develop.battle.net (“Developer Site”) at any time and without notice.”
I think that’s the point people are trying to make.
I get that the addon is an attempt at being a tool to increase accountability of the player base. On that very same notion it also gives the end user the ability to troll/harass/be toxic with that same tool all while sticking a third party (the developer) as the ‘responsible’ person.
If this type of addon was incorporated into the base game itself and had rigorous check/balances to prevent misuse it might be something to took at. Even then random people on the internet are horrible. FWIW, at least with gearscore/raiderio we could come up with excuses to call people trash outside of ‘my addon says you did x so you can’t play with us’
Who am I kidding you are probably right.
